Photographer's Note

View on Pont Neuf bridge from the quays of river Garonne in Toulouse. This bridge is the oldest in Toulouse. It was built from 1544. The works were financed by a tax created by King Francis 1st of France in 1541. The bridge was completed in 1632 and was inaugurated by King Louis 14th of France in 1659. The bridge is 220 metres long and has 7 spans. It is built with red brick and stone. It was conceived to withstand floods of river Garonne. It is a success since it is the only bridge that was never destroyed by floods of river Garonne in last centuries !
