Relaxing at Bon Repos, a photo from Bretagne, West

Photographer's Note

Good Morning Everyone,

My last photograph showed the bridge over the Brest/Nantes Canal and I mentioned that it led to a small alfresco cafe.

As you can imagine, with the canal so close to the cafe, its proximity to Lake Guerledan, and to the ruined abbey of Bon Repos, this is a very popular spot.

I am positioned with my back to Bon Repos Abbey, looking across the canal to the cafe. (As you may remember, I do like to use f/g features whenever possible.)

Perhaps I will be able to post a photograph of the ruined abbey next.

Hello Bev,
The tree is well placed to the left and some shrubs fill the right side fairly well. But primarily this is a pleasant view of the café, a boat and fine reflections, everything in nice pastel colours.

Good morning Beverley, thanks for your critique on my 2CV picture, appreciated.
This place looks as wonderful place for calm stroll along the river, attractive for photography and recreation.
As for the picture, maybe I'd avoide the tree trunk altogether - but it is not a major issue, not distracting from the sight of the river.

I really like the relaxed holiday mood here. The sunlight was pleasant and brings out the colours so well and naturally. Good composition with the boat in the middle in front of the people at the restaurant further away. Lovely reflections, too.

Hi Bev,
I really like the composition with every fragment of the photo filled with action and interest.
The most central for me is the boat with its reflection. I like also the couple having picknic across the river.
Something happened to the colors though as if it was an old print photograph. It has a charm so maybe it was your intention.

Sensational composition of this charming place, where it is surely very easy to relax in that cafe or take a walk with that beautiful landscape, I love the foreground with the canal and the beautiful reflections in it.
The thick trunk of the tree on the left helps the magnificent perspective.
A beautiful composition, with great colors, splendid light and the sharpness is excellent with fine details.
