Trekspace? Two years posting..., a photo from Ile-de-France, North

Photographer's Note

I found out it is my second year posting here on TE... So a different idea today!
Soon the need to expand TE to the outer limits of space will arise... On the left side of the page, instead of the continents, we will have galaxies or constellations!
Sounds silly??? I don't think so... many companies already offer trips to space, the main one being Sir R. Branson's Virgin Galactic (there's an interesting flight description on this page!) from which you already can book your tickets for 200 000 US$...
So, get ready for the next Trek website... TrekSpace!

C'est aujourd'hui mes deux ans de photos sur TrekEarth.. Je lance une idée un peu futuriste, mais je suis sur que bientôt naîtra un nouvel avatar de notre site favori... A la place des continents, a gauche, nous aurons galaxies et constellations!
Cela semble peu probable? Pas tout a fait! De nombreuses firmes proposent des vols pour l'espace, la plus avancée étant Virgin Galactic (lire la description du vol, si possible!)chez qui vous pouvez déjà acheter vos tickets
pour la modique somme de 200 000 US$...
Donc il ne nous reste plus qu'a nous préparer au prochain Trek... TrekSpace!!!

Good suggestion about Trekspace, maybe the guys at NASA and ASE can post some photo's also:)
This is really a beautiful photo, it' s graphical with the circle and the line, well processed etc.
If all is well, Bigelow should also launch it's first space hotel this year BTW. I'm not sure how to get there though :)

Stunning shot Laurent, simple and graphic.
In an ideal world I'd have preferred to have seen the sky a deeper blue - a polariser would have helped you out, making a stronger contrast between the blue and the white of the moon and vapour trail.
Nontheless it works very well - great example of elegant simplicity.

That's something that doesn't attract me that much. I dream about visiting so many places here below... Notwithstanding, it's an interesting note and a great photo, with the plane chasing the big moon using the diagonal in a clear blue sky.

Hello Laurent,

This is the finest juxtaposition I have seen of a plane flying into the hollow of the moon, it gives meaning to Frank Sinatra's famous song, "Fly me to the Moon." Three decades in the distant past, I used a Nikon F to get something evocative of this, shooting Bubble About to Burst. Please, don't worry about critiquing it, but here is an image long before Photoshop existed, with the capabilities to copy and paste.

thank you for providing the link to Virgin Galactic, but personally I don't share your optimism regarding the need to break into new spaces. The technique still lags behind to make it something reasonable besides that the problems that we face here do not justify to turn our backs and aim for different planets. However, your post is fantastic and a good invitation to embark to the outer space. Probably much better and original than any shot that I saw with Space Shuttle or any other rocket launching for the glactial space.

I like a lot also the perfect diagonal of the trail, which cuts the picture in two equal parts. I noticed that you sign-in even before me though...The moon is really amazing there on the sky, but the inclusion of the plane flying towards it, makes it an outstanding capture.
