Photographer's Note

Barnacle Geese (Branta leucopsis) gathering on a meadow close to the North Sea. These geese are usually living in small groups, but when migration to their breeding season in the Arctic starts they are gathering to flocks up to 50000 individuals. I have never seen such a large group of large birds before. Maybe about one thousand geese.
