Photographer's Note

During the floodings of July 14/15, 2021, several trains of Deutsche Bahn were caught by interruption of all tracks around them. This applies especially to Eifel line from Cologne to Trier, which is still interrupted for 92 kms between Kall and Auw, but also to the end of Ahr valley line, as its middle was completely destroyed.
As far as I know, all trains but one have been evacuated by some tricks, making use of decommissioned but still existing lines. This last railcar here was not only insulated at Kreuzberg station, but stood in the water to its waist.
Meanwhile, they dragged it to Ahrbrück with a two-way tractor. There is a parking lot without fences just beside the tracks. They plan to disassemble the train into its three sections, transport them via the narrow local streets to a point near Meckenheim, put the three parts on tracks again and haul them to the maintenance facility.
All this more than one year after the fatal incident.
