Photographer's Note

I have seen a post showing Jesus complaining that his birthday party was cancelled for the first time in 2020 years. There is a huge body of evidence that Jesus was a historical person but since he lived in the pre-digital times there is of course always a chance that somebody could have manipulated the story of his life or his words to benefit from it. Even nowadays there are so many “fake news”. Personally. I try to focus on the bright side: his message of love and forgiveness, something what we all struggle to embrace yet.

Since in the Christian culture it is a time for wishes, I wish you, no matter what you believe in, a healthy holiday season. Health is a gift which we learn to appreciate usually after we lost it, and in this time of pandemic, we realize how randomly a disease can strike even the strongest.

This photo presents an icon from inside of the dome in the Church of the Holy Apostles in Athens. It is located in the Ancient Agora of Athens and can be dated to around the late 10th century. If you want to see how the church looks from outside, check this photo by Jorge:

A good upward pov on the religious frescoes adorning the ceiling. Good colour and sharpness. The available light from the windows helps to illuminate the paintings. Tfs!

Hello Mariusz,
On the thumbnail I thought I saw a plate placed on a table and I wondered what kind of food could be in that plate.
With the full-size photo, it also took a while before I realized that it was the interior of a dome.
I think this little church was closed during my visit. I remember the outside view but not the interior.

I try to think in jesus as a kind of impressionist portrait, not a painting exactly in the minimal details, but we have a hint as He was. distortions was part of the way too, but as He even said once: pay attention in the message, if it is good it came from God.
a nice view of this old mural, we can see it was hidden by another painting and saved.

My congratulations for this great photo, which is very difficult to take, especially with this symmetry, because in the vault photos, you have a very forced and uncomfortable posture, the figure of the Pantocrator looks very good.
Very effective coloring, which highlights the details of the image.
