Photographer's Note

Keratsini is one of the west suburbs of Athens, very close to he main port of Greece, Piraeus. At first sight, it's not very "attractive" given that it's an industrial suburb, but if you look a little closer you can find beautiful, almost idyllic "corners" (and some of the best tradicional tavernes in Athens). All the way from Keratsini to Perama (another suburb) you can find big shipyards, that, unfortunately, close one after the other, leaving thousands of people unemployed. Soon there will be no place for tired ships to "rest", be "cured", "retired" or even "die". And no more ships will be "born" here because the famous Greek shipowners prefer to construct their new fleet (the pride and joy, the locomotive of Greek economy, maybe the largest comercial fleet of the world)) in some distant Asian country.

This particular place where i took the photo is probably, one of the most contradictory in Athens (a city full of contradictions). Right behind me, there was a picturesque tiny harbour for small fishboats and also a beautiful tavern. No more than 30 metres to the right there is a huge electricity factory with a chimney over than 60 m tall.

It is a very beautiful comp..Great colours,nice lighting and timming for this one..Its details are very beautiful too..Well done!

You are right about everything in your note..And if someone want to really know this place,he/she has to live in it for a while..Or even better pass to the other side(Salamina)and have a walk to the beach that "sees" Piraeus..It is a really wonderful place that have to offer much but still not many know it....

Kalispera Hercules.
Me gusta el lugar y la visión que das de él (tanto por la nota como por la foto en sí).
Ese atardecer parace ser una señal de que los tiempos están cambiando, lo que liga con la nota.

Sea como sea, es precisamente la luz una de las claves de la foto. Tiene algo poético, algo muy atractivo y cautivador. Y luego está el mar y y todo el puerto que espera al espectador.

La verdad, una muy buena foto.

(la nota me recuerda a un lugar de Barcelona llamado el Fòrum, que tiene un "paisaje" realmente curioso).

Becoming a fan of yours these days! Nice composition again! Very well composed shot. Beautiful colours in the sky. But I am amazed by the three red reflections on the water. Generally this colour is seen while taking photo of reflection of a setting or rising sun on water, but it seems that the three lights on the ship are producing such great reflection!

Ακόμα μια ατμοσφαιρική φωτογραφία! Εξαιρετικός ο φωτισμός και τα χρώματα. Μου αρέσουν τα χρώματα του δειλινού καθώς και οι αντακλάσεις στη θάλασσα. Πολλή καλή!

Hola Hercules,
Bella imagen de atardecer con unos colores muy bonitos y una luz suave que tranquiliza el espíritu.
Has gestionado muy bien la exposición, y la foto ha quedado realmente bien, con las siluetas de barcos y gruas muy bien detalladas.
Buen encuadre, con las rocas a la izquierda, el agua con los reflejos de las luces, y las montañas al fondo.
Bien hecha.

Ηρακλή τι γίνεται;Γυρνάω από την δουλειά,μπαίνω στο Τρεκ και..!!Απίστευτο! Ούτε συννενοημένοι να 'μασταν!Η βάρκα που χρησιμοποίησα για τρίποδα ήταν εκει;Πολύ ωραία και η δική σου άποψη,πιο φυσική θα έλεγα και σίγουρα πιό "καθαρή".Μπράβο μας!!

Me gusta mucho tu foto y lo que dices en la nota, pienso que uno puede encontrar belleza en casi todas las cosas, quizás sólo sea una cuestión de cambiar un poco nuestra manera de mirar.

La foto es excelente, con muy buena luz, colores y contraste. El POV que elegiste es también muy bueno.

Compliments for your photos and the useful associated info. Browsing through your gallery I was attracted in particular by this photo first of all from the colours which are reflected very well by your camera and moreover by the image you have captured. It shows an ordinary moment of life which we do not usually stop to see. Thanks for posting it.
