Πάντα Βρέχει στην κυριολεξία!

The gorge of Pantavrechi

One of the cleanest and most beautiful gorges in Europe.
Pantavrechi is not a classic example of gorge in the strict sense of the word. It is, actually, the narrowest part of the rushing Krikelopotamos River flowing between Mt Kaliakouda and Mt Platanaki. It lies in the village of Roska in the municipality of Domnista. The gorge is not over 100 m long, but its natural richness and beauty make alternative tourists feel as if they explored all the gorges of Greece in a few minutes.
It should be noted that not all of the local faunal and floral species have been fully recorded. Nevertheless, the region already boasts an impressive biodiversity. Numerous springs from the surrounding mountains join the Krikelopotamos River thus creating breathtaking scenery. Water sounds are heard everywhere. The rocks are verdant as they are covered by mosses. There are waterfalls, water curtains, which empty into small lakes that are 1 m deep.

Το φαράγγι ‘Πανταβρέχει’ σχηματίζεται από τα νερά του ορμητικού Κρικελοπόταμου και βρίσκεται στο χωριό Ροσκά του δήμου Δόμνιστας. Στην πραγματικότητα είναι απλώς το στενότερο πέρασμα του ποταμού ανάμεσα στα όρη Πλατανάκι και Καλιακούδα. Το μήκος του δεν ξεπερνά τα 100 μέτρα αλλά σε αυτήν την μικρή απόσταση, μπορεί να χορτάσει κανείς σαν να είχε δει όλα τα φαράγγια μαζί.
Η βιοποικιλότητα της περιοχής είναι εντυπωσιακή και ακόμα δεν έχει καταγραφεί πλήρως. Εδώ χύνονται πηγές από τα γύρω βουνά που συναντούν τον Κρικελοπόταμο συνθέτοντας ένα τοπίο μοναδικό στο οποίο… πάντα βρέχει! Ακόμα και οι βράχοι είναι καταπράσινοι από τα βρύα ενώ τα νερά σχηματίζουν υδάτινες κουρτίνες και μικρές λίμνες βάθους ενός μέτρου.

Θανάση γεια σου,
υπέροχος τόπος, υπέροχη φωτό με εξαιρετική μεταφορά μπροστά στις οθόνες μας.Πολύ ωραία λήψη με διαφορετική γωνία από άλλες που έχω δεί,και νομίζω καλύτερη.Μου αρέσουν τα χρώματα και το σπουδαιότερο το γράψιμο του νερού που πέφτει.Δεν είναο παγωμένο,ούτε φλου.Είναι ζωντανό,και η φωτό αυτή θα ήταν πιό επίκαιρη για ανέβασμα στα μέσα του Καλοκαιριού με τις πολλές ζέστες, για να την βλέπουμε και να δροσιζόμαστε.

The slow speed gave you a nice movement on the water... but someplaces the photo is overexposed... and that's a problem.
However, the whole photo looks nice and good for TE.
But you could improve a bit the photo.

Hello Athanasios! One of the most interesting aspects of photographing a waterfall is that of deciding what shutter speed to use to capture the feeling of motion. I honestly think that between a 1/4 to a 1/2 of a second provides some of the most interesting results in stopping the action but yet providing the feeling of flow in the water. Your capture here is very nicely done in that aspect. Thanks for sharing!

I looked to your original picture, you did very good with this picture, clarity and sharpness are very good.
Lovely waterfall, excellent freeze it water through the F/8 and the tripod.
Composition and colours are lovely, I like this one.

Hello Athanasios,
this is a beautiful place! What I like the most is where the water falls at the bottom. It makes a beautiful whitish current.

The left part of the picture is really burnt out. An easy way to address this issue would be to simply crop a bit on the left which would help the composition as well I think. I'd crop just a bit on the right as well.

We do love our waterfalls, this one is so much better than your original, the composition is much better. The water is flowing nicely and the rock detail is also spot on. Will have to look this up when i am in Greece again.

Very nice waterfall and really very similar to Sarawak's waterfalls. Good flow motion capture from 1/2s shutter and nicely composed view without too dark shadow below the overhang.

This is a very peaceful and serene image. I can just feel the coolness of the gorge on a hot summer day. Exposure looks to be right on the money even though there is a small hot spot. Well composed and presented.

Είναι πολύ δύσκολο Αθανάσιε να φωτογραφήσει κανείς το απίθανο και πανέμορφο φαράγγι μας. Κι ο λόγος είναι απλός: Το νερό φωτίζεται κι έχει δυνατό κοντράστ, ενώ τα βράχια και τα βρύα είναι σκοτεινά. Εσύ τα ισορρόπησες. Συγχαρητήρια.
