Photographer's Note

Competition is a contest between individuals, groups, nations, animals, etc. for territory, a niche, or a location of resources. It arises whenever two or more parties strive for a goal which cannot be shared. Competition occurs naturally between living organisms which co-exist in the same environment. For example, animals compete over water supplies, food, and mates, etc. Humans compete for water, food, and mates, though when these needs are met deep rivalries often arise over the pursuit of wealth, prestige, and fame. Business is often associated with competition as most companies are in competition with at least one other firm over the same group of customers.

Competition may give incentives for self-improvement.... For example, if two watchmakers are competing for business, they will hopefully improve their products and service to increase sales. If one watchmaker is more responsive to the needs of consumers, this watchmaker will flourish. If birds compete for a limited water supply during a drought, the more suited birds will survive to reproduce and improve the population.

Rivals (similarly matched competitors well known to each other) will often refer to their competitors as "the competition". This is especially true of archrivals (primary, longstanding rivals, often the best in their segment). The term "competition" can also be used to refer to the contest or tournament itself.

While most sports competitions are recreation, there exist several major and minor professional sports leagues throughout the world. The Olympic Games, held every four years, is usually regarded as the international pinnacle of sports competition.....wikipedia..

I am surrounded well this evening between you and Carlos whom I met this winter to Barcelona.
This evening I wanted to fly away on my staircase of Naxos but now, I also want to cross the Pagasetico gulf and even to go much more far on the Aegean Sea with this fantastic sailboat.

Magical! the tenuous colors do not remove fascination to this shot. the flags in the wind are magnificent, and the men in feet leave me breathless, the sky are an ideal background. compliments!

Under the dark sky and since the sea is calm, the ship just look like a model on a green carpet, nice to see ships from different countries take part on this competition, thanks for sharing.

Hi Georgios,
A beautiful ship leaving the scene under a hazy sky, bound for other shores. Interesting to see the crew acting as sails and I hope there were enough members left on deck to steer this ship. A beautiful view with the flag as a fine eye-catcher.

une bien jolie série de photos de jour comme de nuit de cette fabuleuse régate. J'aime pareticulièrement cette photo pour ce siel sensationnel finement capturé, qui en ferait presque oublier le sujet principâl.

Regatta races are very exciting even, fan to watch. I hope you had very good time shooting these beautiful sailboats.
Very nice presentaion of the sailboat just before when its sails were put on. Excellent soft light management, colors and exposure.
