Photographer's Note

During my last trip, I visited one more UNESCO World Heritage site. Beautiful landscapes, amazing rocks and monasteries built on tops.

Between the 13th and 14th century, the twenty-four monasteries were established atop the rocks. Meteora is located near the town of Kalabaka at the northwestern edge of the Plain of Thessaly near the Pineios river and Pindus Mountains.

The Monastery of St. Rousanou (Greek: Μονή Ρουσάνου) is an Eastern Orthodox monastery that is part of the Meteora monastery complex in Thessaly, central Greece. It is situated at the top of a rocky precipice.

To the southeast of Rousanou Monastery, the Psaropetra Viewpoint is located by the side of a main road.

Hello Piotr,
You show many photos now, but they are all good, so keep them coming. This is maybe a slightly less often seen angle of Meteora, but it's an impressive monastery from ever direction. I like the connection between the red roofs of the nearest buildings and those in the distance. In between there's a lot of green surrounding the steep grey rocks. The view is quite dramatic.

These monasteries are very special. And this view looks just great showing two of them on top of cliffs. Green mountain landscape is lovely.

To naprawde wyjatkowe miejsce ktorego nie mialem jeszcze okazji widziec na zywo. Niestety jestem na takim dziwnym etapie w zyciu ze chcialbym jak najwiecej czasu spedzic z corka ale onanudzi sie w podrozy. Wycieczka objazdowa jak ta bylaby dla niej meczarnia. Ludze sie ze kiedys jeszcze do tego wroce ale analizujac czynniki typu zdrowie czy finanse -mam wrazenie ze wiecej uda mi sie zobaczyc na TrekEarth ha ha
Swietna perspektywa z gory. Bardzo ladnie pokazane.

Hello Piotr,
The monasteries of Meteora and the landscape in which they are located, are for me one of the most hallucinatory sites in Greece.
I also see fields (or orchards) in this photo and can't immediately remember them from my visit.
In a few years this photo can no longer be taken when the tree in the foreground will have grown.

I visited this area under the rain too, not so good for photos as the weather you had. what annoyed me there was the prohibition of photos inside. nice image showing the monastery.
