Searching for God, a photo from Ioannina, Epirus

Photographer's Note

Given that we have entered the Holy Week for Christian Ortodox I thought that it would be nice to upload a photo with religious content. This Monastery of the 12th century(Moni Kipinas) is located in a mountain range of extreme beauty, called Tzoumerka (divided in the prefectures of Ioannina and Arta), in the region of Epirus, Northwest Greece. The real miracle for me, is what faith can do sometimes (move mountains?). Even today with the technical evolution, it would be dificult to climb this vertical precipice and build such a beauty. Inside you can visit 4 cells (monks' rooms) and have an incredible view of the Tzoumerka and the gorge of river Kallarytikos. Υou can also visit the beautiful temple of the monastery inside a cave (I hope that sometime later i'll have the chance to upload some inside photos). If the priest (Papa-Lambros, a wonderful person) isn't there and the monastery is closed, you can drive back a couple of kilometres and ask for the key in the coffee shop (kafeneio)of Kipina village.

Hello again Hercules,

this is an awesome shot.True, modern technicalities would find some difficulty in building one like this.Imagining an older time when this was built, it just amazes me.

Nice composition and POV.Good sky and clarity.

Its fascinating and amazing to know the fact that one can go back a few kms and get the key for the Monastery. :)

Καλησπέρα φίλε Ηρακλή

Εξαιρετική λήψη. Η γωνία που διάλεξες είναι επιβλητική και προκαλεί το ανάλογο δέος. Η θέα του κατακόρυφου βράχου με το Μοναστήρι "γατζωμένο" πάνω του αλλά και η αντίθεση που κάνει ο ουρανός είναι εξαιρετικά. Μπράβο σου.

Ένα μέρος που πρέπει οπωσδήποτε ν' επισκεφτώ είναι αυτό. Είναι απίστευτο πώς έχει σκαρφαλώσει στο βράχο το μοναστήρι. Εξαιρετική η γωνία λήψης.

Εντυπωσιακό τοπίο δοσμένο πάρα πολύ όμορφα από χαμηλή γωνιά λήψης που το κάνει ακόμα πιο συναρπαστικό. Πολύ καλή δουλειά και απόλυτα ταιριαστός τίτλος. Μπράβο!!
