Photographer's Note
Yesterday it was Easter for the Greek Orthodox Church. As i had a 4 day vacation I chose to spend it with my family in my hometown Ierapetra, Crete.
Saturday night, exactly at midnight the priest announces the happy news about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. In some churches, like the one in the photo (600 years old, near the castle and the old port of the town) this exact moment a thousand fireworks, even some kilos of dynamite start to explode simultaneously and you think you are in the middle of a batlefield. Some say that this is happening in order to frighten the "bad spirits". After a few minutes everything is more calm, and then the believers take the Holy Light (that's coming directly from the Sacred Tomb in Jerusalem)with them back home. Allthough I 'm not a religious person, I can understand very well the importance of this day for millions of people. It's the hope for a new beginning, for a new, better circle of life. I wish peace, love and prosperity to all the people of the world, no matter what their nationality, race, colour or religion is.
PS Iused long time exposure to capture the movement of the candles. Sometimes it's nice to use long time exposure even when it's not necesary and that's something that Craig Chapman (bigsmileymoon) taught here in TE with his beautiful pictures
