Dramatic changes in weather, a photo from Austur-Skaftafellssysla, Asturland

Photographer's Note

We had a couple of days of rain on the east coast. However, the weather has potential to make dramatic changes within a day. We already had rain all day until about 4:00 pm at the glacier lake Jökulsárlón when the sky cleared for about 1 hour then clouds and rain closed in again. We had just settled down to dinner at the restaurant at Árnanes guesthouse when sunshine broke through the dark clouds for a second time in the day.
This image was taken from the verandah of the restaurant at Árnanes.

The light is indeed quite dramatic under that stormy looking sky. I like very much how it plays across the landscape. Fine technical presentation.

Excellent moment captured, where there seems to be a tussle between the sun and the clouds over the possession of sky. Nice colors and clarity and very well presented. Thanks for sharing.

Hell Trevor,

What a very nice shot with a lot of contrast.
I like the variety of green colours due to the ray of light on the fields at the foreground.That gives a nice brightness to the picture and contrast very well with the dark and dramatic sky.
I think that the rectangular frame is perfect for the horizontal and linear drawing of the fields.

Dramatic weather creates dramatic photographs!
The light on the f/g is almost iridescent and achieves excellent, horizontal patterns; strong contrasts to the focal hill, dark, menacing and shrouded with clouds.
Super composition!

una splendida immagine che riflette molto bene il carattere dell'Islanda, terra quasi deserta per la scarsità di presenza umana a causa del suo clima ostile, ma attraversata da fenomeni naturali che hanno caratterizzato in maniera particolare il suo paesaggio con grandi distese, montagn, ghiacciani, laghi e cascate.
Un territorio che può fare la gioia di ogni fotografo disposto a sopportare disagi, ma che ripaga con maestosi paesaggi come questo da te ripreso in maniera eccellente.

a shot full of the drama that only nature can provide. Your light management here is just perfect at extracting the atmosphere and intense beauty of this moment. Not an easy shot to get the most from but this succeeds superbly. Quite wonderful!
