Photographer's Note
Žingvallavatn is the largest natural lake in Iceland. The lake is in a rift valley between Eurasian and North American tectonic plates. This view is from Žingvellir, on the edge of the American plate.

hello Kari ,
A superb mountain landscape , almost "alpine" , with many fir trees , that seem to be not very common in Iceland . The smoke plume provides a goof docal element on the opposite bank of the lake .

Hi Kari.I was going to say what a pristine environment, but what i thought was a thermal activity looks like manmade- maybe a power station? Anyway, pristine place and a nice POV that reveals the topography. Regards. Klaudio.

Hi Kari,
Very impressive landscape, it looks so barren and hostile. The steam or smoke on the far shore adds to that, and reading your note I can almost feeling the earth moving here. The grey sky creates a unique feeling in this shot, I think so much more than a clear blue sky could. Great photo,
Cheers

Hi Kari
beautiful! I didn't get to see this when i was in Iceland, and its also very very strange to see tall trees on the Island!!!!!!!!!!!!
I probably wouldn't have guessed this was Iceland at all.
lovely shot though, a different scene from the normal Icelandic scenery we see here on TE.
and yes, i've checked out my photos on the BETA TE and they are much sharper :)
thanks
Craig
