Photographer's Note
We leave Reykjavik to discover one of the most visited place of Iceland : Thingvellir National Park. This park sits on a depressed block on the fault between America and Eurasia that cuts Iceland and is at the origin of the island. Thingvellir is a very important historical site in Iceland because it is the place of one of the oldest parliaments in the world, the Alțing, founded in 1930. Thingvellir is also the place where the independance of Iceland was declared in 1944. Thingvellir was filed on Unesco site list in 2004. With Geysir and Gulfoss waterfall it is part of the Golden Circle, a very popular touristic route from Reykjavik. So we wen early (at about 8:30 am) to avoid the crowd ! We had not a fantastic light when we were there, but the place is very beautiful anyway !
