Photographer's Note
I wanted to see many places in Iceland. The most important was the Northern Light, it was my main goal and the reason I went in winter. But from other places, I was interested most in the famous Skogafoss waterfall. And how stupid of me! I was so angry. We had fabulous wheater, the waterfall was frozen - and I could take only this one picture - my batteries were empty. :(. The batteries of the camera are empty very quick in low temperature, even if I have the camera inside my jacket. (I have three batteries, usually they are enough for hundreds of pictures). With the smartphone, it is better. But It was our last place that day and I made too many stupid pictures from the road. You can't imagine what the views I had there and they are only in my head.
I have power banks, but that day I left it in the room. Bad luck (stupid, stupid, stupid).

Hello Malgo,
Great pity about the camera batteries, but you didn't do too badly coming away with this spectacular image. I like the point of view that shows these magnificent falls in context and includes the people who give the composition scale. Very good technical realisation. Next time, you need to be armed with some spares.

Hello Malgo,
What pity you had run out of batteries by the time you got to this stunning place! But luckily you managed to get this amazing shot of the frozen waterfall and the snow on the rocks around it. The textures of the cliffs are wonderful and seen even better with the thin layer of snow covering them. Superb clarity and well-saturated colours, too.

Hello Malgo,
One picture of Skogafoss is better than none of the Northern Light... :-(
At least you should feel lucky that this one turned out so well. Even when frozen this is a magnificent waterfall, and a handful of tourists were enough to animate the view but not to disturb it.
Kind regards,
Gert

Ciao Malgo. I understand very much your anger and your disappointment, you have arrived here and the batteries have left you, a real tragedy. But do not worry, in the past it happened to me too. 8 completely black rolls coming back from my trip to Turkey when the camera was still in the film. Fortunately, a picture you managed to make it, and the show is incredible, this accentuates the regret more for not having been able to do other. Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano p.s. the flu is gone?

Hi dear Malgo,
This is a spectacular view of this well known and impressive waterfall, frozen and with colourfully dressed visitors making a fine foreground feature.
But I can really empathise with your feelings about your camera and batteries failing at just the most inconvenient time. How sad and how very upsetting too.
I can understand that all so well because, back in 2001 when I visited Madagascar with one of my daughters (and that was in the days of 35mm film), I stupidly took with me some cheap colour film. I normally would have used Kodak but that time I took some cheap unknown brand and the quality of the photographs was disastrous, very grainy and with poor colours. Very annoying - and all the more annoying because it was all my own fault! :(
Still, in this case you did manage to capture one fine picture!
Excellent!
kind Regards,
John.

Hello Malgo,
I totally understand your frustration!
I once went out with no card in my camera! These are important learning experiences and probably won't happen again!!
Thankfully, you did get one fine photograph, which includes other people so that we can fully appreciate the size and the impact of this wonderful waterfall.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Malgo
A spectacular shot of Skogafoss waterfall. I have had a battery problem in Florence Italy, when I left the charging battery in my hotel room and went of with the other battery on 10%. Now I always swap them or take both. Looking forward to your northern lights shots. Tfs!

Ciao Malgo,
Quelle belle scène d'hiver. Même le grand froid ne réussi pas à figer le mouvement de l'eau de cette chute grandiose. Magnifique point de vue qui donne beaucoup d'ampleur à l'ensemble.

Hello, Malgo!
Another incredible view of a waterfall with some frozen parts, this time with a good inclusion of the people as scale to the image! And about the batteries, it has happened to me more than once, but not in such a different and far place like this! But it may be a great opportunity to go back there!

Hello Malgo, I really feel sorry for you that your misfortune with the batteries had to happen!
It is a good reason maybe for you to return?
This is a fantastic picture, and it will remind you of the walk to this viewpoint and how you felt at seeing this amazing scene; it’s not everyone that gets to see a frozen waterfall.
The people animate the scene and give us a good idea of the scale of the landscape.
Thanks for sharing, regards Jean.

Hi Malgo,
Sorry to read about empty batteries. But one picture is still much better than zero! It is an awesome place and winter view is so different from summer version. I can imagine how ice accumulates there. Blue light of a winter afternoon increases chilly feeling.

Hi Malgo,
The presence of the people is animating the scene and has an effect of scale. The point of view is showing the details of the Skogafoss. The reflection of the light on the snow has a good effect on the colours. Have a nice day.

Hello Malgo,
After having read your story, I can only come to one conclusion: you will have to go back to Iceland in another winter. Isn't that a better thought?
I see there were quite a lot of travellers.
Impressive waterfall and scenery!
