Photographer's Note
axhóll is an excellent sightseeing attraction for those who do not want to hike too far. The crater is approximately 100 m (100 ft) high with a useful walking path and steps in order to make the ascent as easy as possible for guests. This makes for a simple alternative to visiting Eldborg crater on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula which requires a two and a half hour hike to visit.
Saxhóll is, in fact, two craters, though most guests will only summit the first due to its close proximity to the road, Útnesvegur (Nr. 574). From the top of the crater, one is blessed with incredible views over the Atlantic Ocean and the expansive, dried lava fields of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Saxhóll is one of the best examples of seeing a crater in Iceland that once shot hot magma from the earth, sculpting the landscape around it.

With the snow and ice, the way was not so easy. One had to be very careful.

Deux heures de marche difficiles, mais le bonheur est présenté en atelier (une image qui mérite une première page tant la beauté des lieux est magnifique).
Merci pour ces précieux renseignements et enseignements sur ces cratères.

Hello Malgo,
100 metres is nearer 330 feet, still quite a hike especially in conditions like that. The blackened covering sits well against that lovely blue sky and the snowy white foreground. I like the lights and colours. Very good sharpness.

Hello Malgo,
Iceland has something for everyone when it comes to craters. Even for those who don't want to walk far. But in the winter the walk will not have been really easy.
The picture is beautiful with the curve of the road leading to the top.
We find pretty soft cloud lines in the blue sky.
Nice black & white contrast on the volcano.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Malgo,
Oh, back to snow but why not when you have such stunning scenes to share!
The crater is fine focal point and, from your viewpoint, the pathway makes a smooth, curved guide to the summit.
Lovely textural details!
Your w/s has amazing atmosphere; maybe not the top of Everest but the mood feels the same!
Have a good Sunday,
Bev :-)

Hello Malgo,
The crater doesn't rise so high above the surroundings, but its shape and our knowledge that this is a volcano makes it impressive anyway. The road going up the side looks like an easy walk, but in winter nothing is easy. At least you had beautiful weather which enabled you to take a crystal clear and attractive photo. The WS shows a good atmosphere of pride that you all made it to the summit.
Kind regards,
Gert

Malgorzata, scientists think that Iceland forms a raised part of the Atlantic oceanic ridge. The island has an intense volcanic activity similar to the one happening in the ocean floor. Interesting sight of that crater during the winter season, a path leads closer to the summit

Hello Malgo,
A fantastic photo of a spectacular place. The shapes of the landscape are beautiful and even more so in this bright sunlight. Also the blue sky with the clouds that look like veils was a perfect backdrop.

Hello Malgo
One of the easiest volcanoes to climb is Rangitoto in Auckland harbour. This looks like a lateral blast eruption rather than a vertical explosion. Good sharpness and the white snow and black rock add strong graphic elements. Tfs!

Ciao Malgo
la foto è molto bella, mi piace questa luce e mi piace il cielo.

Hello Malgo.
We are back in TE, after a few days of vacation, in the beautiful province of Huelva, in Andalucia.
Very beautiful image of this volcano, which the contrast of snow with dark volcanic rock produces a beautiful effect, the light clouds that look like rays behind it, are a good bonus.
Wonderful image, sharpness, exposure, colors and POV are excellent.
Photo very well made. I like it
Enjoy a good day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

in some aspects this remind me the shapes of volcanic areas in my town, but of course ours are much older and worn and were created when the atlantic begin to be open.
nice view mixing snow and the dark volcanic stones. nice light too.
