Photographer's Note
I can't believe its taken me 4 years to post this Church.
Its so typical of Iceland, unique and stylistic architecture.
This is an abstract version of the Church...my next post I will show a more natural image so you can see how it looks in its landscape.
This Church is suppose to emulate the shapes and forms of a glacier.
There are a few photos of it on TE, but not many, as its not on the typical route that tourists take. Most people visiting Iceland will not venture out here. I put the church on the Map view if you're interested.
The title of the photo Stykkisholmur, is the name of this small town in western Iceland, with a population of 1195 in 2017.

Hello Craig,
This church is not as famous as the cathedral in Reykjavik but almost as spectacularly designed. There are a few photos posted on TE earlier, but I think this is the first that strictly focuses on the original shape. It makes me imagine I am standing on the upper deck of a ship looking at the bow. Maybe that was the architect's intention.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Craig,in fact this church isn't a must in the touristic trips, and i lost a visit there during my vacation there. The style reminds a bit the main church of Reykjavik, but too minimal. I like a lot the perfect symmetry of this front view and the perfect exposure too. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

A famous architecture jewel, Craig, taken from a fair distance but shows well the beslls and wooden door at the entrance.
Though contrast was prevailed by the "washed" sky aloft, the picture is clear and distinct.
Have a nice new day,
Ike

Hello Craig,
Yes, this church has been posted before but not from this angle, which you have chosen, to emphasise its long, smooth lines. It looks to have open arms, waiting to enfold everyone and draw them inside.
You have certainly made an excellent job of this symmetrical composition.
Just think, without surfing your archives, this could have remained hidden for another 4 years!
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

The church is impressive. The point of view is showing the details of the architecture of the church. It is clear and precise. Have a nice day.

Hello Craig, this is a building that once seen you would never forget it.
I agree with Gert, one can imagine standing on a ship looking towards the bow, and sea all around!
I was surprised to read how small a population the town has; very impressive to have such a distinctive church.
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean.

Hello Craig,
This is the first time that I see this church, the architect has a nice inspiration then with this model. I am not a modern drawiner but I've many respect for the man.
Also the colours are perfect photographed.
Very well done, TFS
Regards,
John.

Hi Craig,
Again a super wide angle gives special impression of architecture. And no doubt this church is quite special anyway. It is surprising how such a modern masterpiece can be found on the edge of nowhere in Iceland.

Hello Craig,
A beautiful photo of this modern church. The smooth shapes are really appealing and I like the strong symmetry here. Also the gentle sunlight is very pleasant here.

Hello Craig,
This is very cool architecture, and I like the wooden doors and large windows, too. I can even see some reflections of what look like mountains in the glass. Iceland has some funky buildings. :-) Take care!

Hello Craig,
Remarkable to find such a daring design for a church in such a remote place of the island.
Apart from the bell tower, I would never think of a church when I saw your picture.
Wonderful symmetrical representation.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Craig
I am not normally enamoured by modern church architecture but this one does have style. A good panoramic view of it.
