Photographer's Note
Ytri Tunga is a beach by a farm of the same name on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Ytri Tunga is the most reliable place in Iceland to see seals. Just offshore, on some rocks protruding from the water, at least a few individuals from the local colony can be seen hauling out all throughout the year. The seals that haul out here are Harbour Seals, one of the two common species found in Iceland. The other is the Grey Seal.[
https://guidetoiceland.is/travel-iceland/drive/ytri-tunga-beach].
To get to the seals was difficult. We had to go without any path, on the seaweeds, that were frozen and slippery, and there were stones and water under them. One had to be very careful with every step. In spite of this, one friend made a wrong step and broke her hand. She had to go to the hospital and they had to put a cast on her hand.
Difficult choice: to show such a close up or the broader view.?

Hello Malgo,
A nice photo, although the first seconds I wasn't sure if I saw a seal or a strange installation (there is so much original public art in Iceland). It is nicely placed and perfectly reflected. The environment looks great too, but isn't the blue tone slightly strong? It sounds like a difficult area to go for a walk. You were lucky it wasn't you who slipped and broke your hand.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Malgo,
Breaking a hand is not a laughing matter; lucky it wasn't you. Notwithstanding, the photo of the seal is charming and lovely to view. The seal and its reflection is nicely placed and the light is delightful. There is perhaps a slight blue cast as Gert suggests, but it doesn't bother me or my enjoyment of the composition.

Hello Malgo,
A great capture of this seal alone on that tiny island. I really like its reflection too in the calm water. There was a nice bit of warm light as well, which add a good contrast with the snow in the background.

Ciao Malgo, for me the choice of close up for the main pic is correct,i can see very well the sael kissed by the light of sun in this blue scenery. Magnificent pic,no doubts! A difficult walk to go there as i can see in your WS, a frozen and not regular ground, maybe most difficult of my dunes..ehehe...i lost to see a seal in Iceland and it's a pity, but i saw the whales..have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hi Malgo.
I appreciate the reflections on the water. The wideness of the area is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the seal and of the mountain. Have a nice day.

Hello Malgo,
I understand it was a difficult choice: the top of the picture with the snowy landscape looks so beautiful.
The seal takes on the shape of a boat which makes its image including the reflection even more attractive.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Malgo
I am glad it wasn't you who slipped and fell and broke their wrist. It would NOT have been nice with a bad cold as well. I must be blind as I can only see one seal and its reflection. I saw seals in Milford Sound from the boat that went past Bowen Falls and Mitre Peak. Also saw seals at Rottnest Island off Perth. Sadly they have become almost extinct in the Mediterranean. Tfs!

Hi Malgorzata
It looks like she has an eye on you though - as if floating on a shiny mirror! Sheer joy to see in great light and colours. A lovely wildlife capture! Congrats

Hi Malgo,
Sorry to read about the broken hand. Frozen seaweeds on boulders sounds about the worst possible terrain to walk. View of the seal is charming. I think my choice of framing would be fairly tight, but still including the skyline.
I added such framing on the Workshop.

Hello Malgorzata,
Very nice and sharp picture of this Icelandic landscape. The broader view is nice, because it has more mountains, but in the version, It's easier to spot the seal.
Thank you for sharing.

Hello Malgo,
Your intrepid trek across the shore to obtain this photograph sounds quite dangerous. I'm glad that you managed this shot without accident.
The seal looks to be posing for you!
It makes a comical shape with its reflection but a wonderful, natural life shot. You must have been very pleased when you got this shot.
Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

Hello,
Nice wildlife scene. It's great to see animals in their natural enviroment, I don't like zoo's very much.

Malgorzata, many wild areas empty of human activities still remain in Iceland. That seal has a rest on the shore, a thick layer of fat protects it against the cold. Nice nature picture shared
