Driving in Iceland, a photo from Snaefellsnessysla, Vesturland

Photographer's Note

I am jumping between my archives and Iceland pictures so as you (and me too) were not bored. Still three weeks to new photos :).
I do not know what it is, a mailbox? Anyway, I have found this view a bit surreal in the place in the middle of white nowhere. The mountain that is so nice illuminated with the rising sun is Snæfellsjökull, the volcano from the Jules Verne novel Journey to the center of the Earth.

It could be a postbox but it looks somewhat out of place in these snowy desolate surroundings. You have framed it well with the road snaking past serving to draw us into the wider scene. I like the soft lights and restricted tonal palette.

Bonjour, chère Malgo,
S'il s'agit de la boîte aux lettres de la propriété qui se trouve sur l'image présentée en atelier, l'on comprend qu'il faille la placer à cet endroit pour ne pas avoir à faire des kilomètres supplémentaires !;o)
Le mystère reste entier, ce qui ne l'est pas, c'est la beauté toujours spécifique des lieux.

An abandoned mailbox? Craig would love it! ;-) It really looks strange, but in this scenery this becomes quite a fascinating picture. Slightly absurd, but beautiful. The road in the WS does not look entirely reliable.

Malgorzata, it should be a pleasure to drive in such vast stretch of snow. Few cars run on this road, it's a wild area with breathtaking landscapes. This little house that holds your attention is maybe a mailbox. Good depth, high resolution

The length of the road is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the mountains and of the small box. The reflection of the light on the snow is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

It is not just a mail box, but more of a mail house. This person must be expecting quite a lot of mail. A great shot of it in the middle of this snowy plain in front of the mountains. The one at left is lit beautifully as well.

What a scenery,and what a magnificent pic in the WS too,very special because so lovely without great ingredients,just a snowy road under the sun,but really amazing! Hello Malgo,

Super composition of this Icelandic scene!
The features are strongly placed to give a diagonal link across the frame and there is such a sense of satisfaction when you see the sunlit snow-peak, in the b/g.
The mailbox is the only warm colour on the photograph, which gives it enormous, visual strength.

Whatever it is it looks interesting with the red door and trim contrasting well against the blue grey snowy shadows. Perhaps emergency food or batteries for lost hikers? Or maps? Tfs!

it's probably a mail box, and its as if they knew exactly how tall the snow would get haha. I wish there were more mail boxes like this. the landscape and terrain in Iceland is so difficult, as shown by your photo, imagine being left out in the cold stranded here??? yikes. fun subject and fun shot

Potezna seria zdjec z Islandii mnie ominela do biezacego przegladania, ale obejrze w wolnej chwili bo kraina ciekawa i na liscie tych do odwiedzenia:)
Ladne tlo i sietnie odnaleziony element na pierwszy plan o co na tych pustkowiach chyba nielatwo :)
