Glacier Lagoon

Photographer's Note

Jökulsárlón might be one of the most photographed locations in Iceland and for all the right reasons. I had a chance to visit this place several times by now and it has never been the same, always presenting photographer with various new opportunities. This time, I had a pyramid iceberg with circle whole in it which is rather unique. I really liked how the iceberg mirrored the shape of the mountain in the background. Not to mention the calm surface that allowed me to take perfect mirror reflection (it is not always that calm!!). I thought that this iceberg was really great and I looked forward to take more shots of it during different times of day... unfortunately it collapsed within few hours.. so it was one of those short windows of opportunities in life.

Really an amazing shot: colors are perfectly balanced, and the reflection is simply superb.
Even the overexposed top-right angle adds a nice touch to the overall composition.

Stunning photo. I want to be there! I love that you have managed to have a lot of contrast with limited light and a limited colour pallet. Beautifully composed.

Lucie: As you are among my favorite photographers it's nice to see you back again after so many months!

This is truly a fantastic photograph. The hole in the ice, all the blue tones and, of course, your typically perfect composition.

I was actually on the internet this morning looking at flights from Florida to Iceland, quite possibly my next great destination.

The subtle variations of blue and purple hues really make this picture great. Your composition also highlights the wonderful symmetry between the iceberg and mountain, as well as between the reflections in the calm water. Well done!

Hi Lucie,
I am close to departure to Iceland (2 days left) and this place is on my planned route ! You wer very lucky catching such a strange iceberg. I love too the atmosphere, with the clouds in the sky and the blue tone colours.

Hello, a very atmosphereic image of the rock with a window. Nice blurred reflection in the water and oveall blue cast throughout. Blue is the color most found in the world. It is great to see you are still here on TE. I have seen your gallery and have admired it.
