Photographer's Note

South and West of the town of Killarney is the world famous Killarney National Park and Lake of Killarney. The park total 10,236 hectares comprising the Upper, Middle and Lower Lakes surrounded by mountains and woodlands. The Park is an area of outstanding beauty and includes the peaks of Mangerton-Torc-Shehy and to the west of the park are the Macgillycuddys Reeks-the highest mountain range in Ireland.

The nucleus of the National Park is the 4,000 hectares Bourn Vincent Memorial Park formerly known as the Muckross Estate, which was presented to the State in 1932 by Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Bourn and their son-in-law Senator Arthur Vincent to be Ireland's first National Park. In recent years, land and waters of the former Kenmare Estate have been added, including Knockreer, Ross Island and Innisfallen.

In 1981, the Park was designed by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve, part of a world network of natural areas which have conservation, research, education and training as major objectives.

Hi Zbigniew
This is a great scane, the colors have remained very fine and there is a great subdued light, that is so common in Ireland. I love how youve composed this with the many horizontal lines stretching across the view, it creates really nice depth. The broken light on the mountains is brilliant.

Bonjour Zbigniew,

Je trouve ce parc très beau. Un bon point de vue bas qui met bien en valeur les herbes aquatiques aux belles teintes de jaune et vert forment un beau contraste avec les montagnes sombres sous ce ciel nuageux.

Beautiful landscape. The dark mountains look beautiful under the cloudy sky and the fresh green colours in the foreground make a wonderful contrast. The mood you captured here is really great.
