I couldn't decide which of these 2 landscape photos from Inishmore in the Aran Islands to have as the main one so here they are together showing the traditional architecture and stones fences.

Hello Ian, you welcomed the new year many hours earlier :).
How strange, we are neighbours today and we both have had the same idea to show a collage of two pictures, and from Ireland (partly in my case). Interesting architecture of these houses. Nice both picture but I prefer the colourful version. Interesting low stone walls.
Happy New Year

Hello Ian,
A ice duo of rural Irish landscapes showing the stone fences separating properties and farms. Good tonal range in the b&w image and both are as sharp as a tack. Tfs!

Hello Ian, and Gott Nytt År to you too.
These two photos could have been from 1906 and 2006. Not very much has probably changed here in 100 years. The buildings and stone walls would probably have been restored once or twice, but basically this looks like a timeless place. It's a very pretty view, but it looks windy and very quiet.
Best regards,
Gert

the version in B&W was nice and with interesting use of lines around the house. the colorful image show us how small were the properties and how abundant were the stones in the area to build such fences.
happy 2021

Hi Ian,I thought you had an old photo from the last century like for Fiji before reading the notes..ehhe..instead it's just a comparison between color and black and white, I prefer the color even if the other version is great for a view like this. Again happy new year and thank you!Luciano.

Hi Ian,
The wideness of the area is creating depth. The point of view is showing the details of the stones fences and of the houses. THe light is giving good colors rendering. Happy New Year.

Hello Ian,
Two wonderful pictures, but I prefer you colour image, notwithstanding the black and whit picture also superb.
This is lovely photo work, with high sharpness.
Very well done, TFS
I wish you a healthy 2021,
John.

Hello Ian,
These two photographs both show fine details of the Irish houses and nearby countryside. The house in your b&w example looks like the one on the right in your coloured version; it could very easily be a last century photograph and a modern version.
The drystone walls are interesting; they are made from similar materials to those in my locality but there are differences, to the point that I would be able to identify the Irish from the my local versions.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

two duo photos of Ireland side by side today. Where Malgo shows an arial view with you we are feet on the ground enjoying the rural landscape. Both images are clear and filled with detail, but my preference has to go for the colour version

Hello Ian,
Wonderful landscapes of the island of Inishmore.
I remember I was very impressed when I saw these drystone walls, something I had not seen before. Both photos show the special landscape excellently.
Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2021,
Paul

Hi Ian,
You could have used both as main uploads. Interesting landscape with old houses and equally old stone fences. It's a miracle that there are still some soil left after moving all the stones to fences! Maybe my choice would be the lower image, thanks to the sea background.

Hi Ian,
great series of photos with characteristic Irish landscape. Both are excellent with each showing the pattern made by the stone walls. The upper has more pattern while the lower has the sea on the horizon as a bonus.
Fantastic reportage.
Happy New Year!

Hi Ian
Happy New Year to you too!
I'm impressed with the number of languages you were able to quote in the note. :-)
Great idea to show both images next to each other. Maybe a metaphor for a monochrome 2020 to turn into a colourful 2021? Or the other way round???
Both photos are great, I wouldn't know which one to choose either.
Best wishes
Kasia

Hello Ian!
I haven't been to Inishmore yet, but my elder son has. to my humble eyes, you made the best choice by not chosing one capture over the other, both have their own values and fit together perfectly.
A Healthy and Happy 2021 for you and all of your family!
Regards from Rhineland, waiting for the snow to come
Sven
