Photographer's Note

This was taken in Cork, Ireland, just outside of Roscarbery Court (it is also spelled "Rosscarbery" in some places). It is a great place to see castle and manor house ruins. This place, like so many others throughout Ireland, has a great story behind it, and they're easy to find on the internet, but much more fun to hear about from the locals, especially if you want several versions. Asking about these places teach the traveler as much about the politics and history of the time as it does about the actual ruins. If you respect the property lines and fences, the people we've met have always been extremely accommodating, often letting us in to get a quick photograph or two. But always ask first.

Tech Note: We'd been past this place many times on several trips and photographed it from many angles and distances, but nothing ever did it justice. We were on our way out one day and between rain showers, the clouds opened up and lit up Coppinger's Court just the way I'd always pictured it. I sharpened this shot up a bit and enhanced the contrast a little because it was still a grey day. Cloned out some telephone poles, and I think that's it.

This was my first Photoshop project and it before i learned the important lesson of don't save a .JPG of a .JPG. The noise and junk you pick up is horrible.
