Photographer's Note

Details of the houses in Roman Ghetto.
Rome's Jewish ghetto was built in 1555 on the banks of a frequently flooded bend of the Tiber River. The ghetto was the forced home of the Roman Jewish population for more than 300 years. In the 16th century, when Pope Paul IV forced the Jews to reside within a walled ghetto, the center of its four-square-block area was synagogue. When Italy became unified in 1870, the ghetto was essentially demolished, replaced with the modern blocks we see today.
The new "Synagogue of Emancipation" was built in a remarkable three years (completed 1904) with the enthusiastic support of the entire Roman community. This is where Pope John Paul II made his historic visit in 1986.

The heavy saturation gives this the look of an older photo somehow, Malgo. Great detail to uncover here; the mismatched windows and bright colors contrast nicely, with the shutter breaking through the dividing line. And the reflection on the lefthand window - amazing! a frame of abstract art hidden within your clever composition. Thanks!

widze jestes na powrot bardzo aktywna chociaz niedlugo pewnie szykuje sie przerwa na kolejna wyprawe.
Bardzo atrakcyjna kompozycja, kolory bajeczne, super geometria. Plus ciekawa historia ktorej do konca nie bylem swiadomy.
Zycze szczesliwej wyprawy i mnostwa znakomitych zdjec ktorych my tylko bedziemy mogli pozazdroscic.
Dla mnie ostatnio wyprawa do parku na spacer jest wielkim wyzwaniem :(

The specially Jewish day.
We find in these colour combination also the Belgium colours, "Black-Yellow-Red"

Hi Maggie,

Strong colors, makes me think of some of the modern abstract painting. I do like very much the people that have the courage to put so much color on the wall, and I guess it can turn out really cool or really bad. I have difficult time choosing color for my room in the house :)

I thought at first glance I thought this was taken in Burano Venice. It has those familiar strong colors.
If the two windows were exactly side by side I probably wouldn't like the photo, but having them 1 up and 1 down gives just the right amount of change. I like it :)

Love the bright gaudy colors here that remind me of abstract paintings by Picasso or Gauguin. Or even a combination of the 2! Effective tight framing with good sharpness. Superb warm cold color contrasts between the blue, red and yellow. Have a nice weekend!

A riot of colour here: primaries jostling for attention. I can't work out the painting (?) in the left window, but it certainly adds an intriguing note, and breaks up the horizontals and verticals. Good work.

At first glance the colors resemble those of puppet for the powerful impact that they create but then you see that the note belongs to the Roman Ghetto. Very nice l 'inquadrattura and interesting the difference of the two windows. Photos managed and presented in a perfect way with good light and colors. Thanks for the good work and sharing.
