All you need for a bad pic, a photo from Pisa, Tuscany

Photographer's Note

Very often we find a disturbing element when we want to take pictures. Well here we have a complete catalog concentrated in a few meters. We abound with wires, then parables, curtains, laundry hanging out to dry, gas meters, rain canals .... and all in rigorous backlighting ... a face of an alternative Pisa not far from the splendor of Piazza dei Miracoli.

Molto spesso ci capita di trovare un elemento di disturbo quando vogliamo fare le foto. Ebbene qui abbiamo un catalogo completo concentrato in pochi metri. Abbondiamo con i fili, poi parabole, tende, biancheria stesa ad asciugare, contatori del gas, canali pluviali.... e tutto in rigoroso controluce...un volto di una Pisa alternativa non lontana dai fasti di Piazza dei Miracoli.

Bonsoir Luciano,

Les fils électriques ou de téléphones n'égayent pas la scène. La suite de lampadaires donne du dynamisme à la composition. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails des lampadaires. Bonne soirée.

Hello Luciano,
Tourists coming to Italy do NOT regard laundry hanging out to dry as disturbing elements. We LOVE to include laundry in our photos. ;-)
But I agree with the rest of the objects you mention. And yet you managed to use all these disturbing elements for an amusing and attractive composition. The lamps are actually not ugly, and the glimpse of the tower is quite beautiful. So you ended up with a very good photo showing Italy as it really is.

The picture is not as bad as you might had suggested. Typical narrow alley that i saw in several Italian towns, there is always some backlight anjd elements that only look to be a disturbance.
But, I find those elements part of daily life, evidence that people are living there, and those make sense to the overall scenery.

yes, there is the saying that "if life gives you lemons, make a lemonade". That is what you did, instead of worrying about the cables and mess you made it into an interesting theme in this photo.
Very well done, I have to do it more often.

Ha! Ha! Luciano, this scene won't make it onto the many postcard scenes that we see from Pisa! And yet, in this close-up, you have made the features that we normally find irritating, seem very arty!
I think it is the satellite dish that I find intrusive, the other features fit well into the scene.
Your photograph is, as always, sharp and very well composed! The subject will depend very much on the person, as to how much it is enjoyed.

a nice view of this very narrow street in pisa. I remember once my cousin in portugal took me to see the narrowest street in her town and a people could to enter in the window of the other front house easily. haha.

I like your note describing all the small details that could be regarded as a nuisance. On this narrow alley they make an interesting combination. It took a while before I noticed that tower looking construction in the background. I guess that's interesting too, but it's an other story.

Hello Luciano, good for you leaving the more famous parts of Pisa so as to share this view.
It shows how it really is, lots of cables and the inevitable satellite dishes.
And we can see an old tower in the background.
I like the title, but it really isn't a bad picture.

It is an excellent photo of this narrow alleyway and the many daily life details the façades on both sides have to offer. It is a great mix of lamps, wires, satellite dishes and balconies. Fine play of light and shadows also.

It looks a little like some of the streets in Kathmandu or Bangkok. Some fire escapes are also quite ugly. A good photographic illustration of what not to include in a professional photo, and to be judicious when choosing backlit shots. The laundry, lamps and flowerboxes are in fact photogenic, but the pipes and wires steal their attention. Tfs!

Ciao Silvio, Of course, you know very well that this picture will be appreciated. If there are many disturbing elements and there is no way to get rid of them, the good idea is to make them the main theme. It is well known. An interesting very narrow street, like in Naples. I like these lamps.

Sometimes something is so ugly that it somehow seems to become beautiful again.
You can say the same about this fascinating photo. There are so many disturbing elements that it has become a very successful photo without having to brush things off.

:-) considering....a hard look at it, it seems 'a sight for sore eyes' at certain angles, I see definitely on the right side more attractive than the left ( except the lamps , even better with the light on ).
The balconies are not a bad feature , interesting small enclosure cramped between a narrow alley, the tower as b/g ....the truth ugliness of Pisa with the full of characteristic charms.
:-) considering...it's NOT all you need for a bad pic.

The only theme missing in your busy scenery is the view on balconies of people exchanging across the street the latest morning news!! But that behaviour was more frequent before the
era of the texto messages!
So you did your best, showing how can look a backstreet abandoned by pedestrians afraid of the virus!

Very curious, this detail of the narrow and short street, in this short space of street, those four street lamps dominate, the tower that we glimpse at the end of it, gives a good bonus.
