A daytime shot of the same square previously uploaded in blue hour. In the bg is the Torre degli Anziani (La Tour des Ancienes). In English, it sounds rather less exotic as 'the old tower'. Padua is 'Padova' in Italian.

Hello Chris,
I imagine the café or restaurant seen here is about the most expensive place in town for a meal or a just a drink. Places with such scenic locations usually overcharge their customers, who will come anyway just to enjoy the beauty of the surroundings (disregarding the litter on the ground). Just taking a photo was probably free, and you did it well. It's a nice composition, very sharp and perfectly exposed.

Hello Chris,

This is a lovely composition.
The lowest horizontal layer is full of interest from the diners and waiters, and the birds who probably get titbits from the diners!
Above them, we can appreciate the fine design and details of the 'Old Tower'.
The ambience oozes from the scene.

A crowded place from better days, Chris.
I missed Padua for some reason, can't explain to myself how on my six visits to Italia did not managed to go to this beutiful town.

You have managed to include so much of the buildings and their details are very sharp.

Wide angle gives a good idea of the massive scale of these buildings. People on the cafe chairs look quite small.

Magnificent combination of beautiful architecture and a busy terrace life.
It is wonderful how three different architectural styles are brought together here.
In the foreground the pigeons seem to find a lot of food scraps.

A good photo of the piazza with lots of good building detail. Looks like a classic narrow street going beside the front one, a street typical of the cities in that part of Italy and very hard to take photos of.
