Photographer's Note

Another image from our Venice trip. There are so many beautiful shops in Venice and this was a shop window, the shop selling puppets and dolls. Fascinating! Some are very pretty but a few are quite frightening, the stuff of nightmares. We did not buy one, very expensive.

Hi David,in fact sometimes these shops are a trap for tourists, with very expensive puppies somethimes made in China like the colorful glasses of Murano. Another top quality pic from your trip in Venezia,very rich and made in the best sharpness and exposure. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hello David, shops like this are always worth a look, and a good subject for photography.
There are some rather strange characters in view. And is that Pinocchio with the long nose?
You managed the light really well, no reflection from the window.

The unemployment level amongst the artists is rather high in these times of lockdown and the observation is also valid for window puppets!!
Nevertheless, this gathering of fully-unemployed dolls is a pleasure for the eyes, given the excellent depiction of details, despite the high contrast of a sun-lit showcase.

Hi David,
you are right some of them are creepy.
I think it is nice to get a small souvenir from holidays. When I stare at fridge magnets in daily life -it reminds me the good times I had earlier. But I would not invest too much in souvenirs especially those which are not practical like these puppets.
You did the best: you took them all by photographing them.

Hello David,

I see this was taken long before the Covid pandemic and must have been a great attraction to the many visitors who visit Venice and see the festivals. What a lovely memento! It looks as if Pinocchio is high on the list!

You have taken a fine shot of the window display, so no problem there but, if I had designed the window, I would have had far fewer puppets, so each could be more easily studied!
