Photographer's Note

Third of my series of masqueraders.

This clever masked lady was shamelessly helpful posing with her mirror. By positioning herself with her back to a fence she also kept the background clear (you see the side wall of St Mark's Basilica in the background) which was an enormous help. I didn't get as close with this group, mostly because I was still being painfully polite. Most people with 'big cameras' (not camera phones and credit card sized cameras) were gracious and considerate, while the out and out tourists (most possessing the aforementioned cameras) were somewhat less so. Not all of us had the same ideas for photographing these masqueraders. That is the way of the world!

I have to wonder, whomever pays these masked people, do they get paid specifically to promote Venice through photography? They certainly do a good job....
