Into my archive again, and here is a 'living statue'.

Titled 'Uncomfortable', I cannot imagine sitting in this pose for any length of time!

A very grey day in Verona.
Unfortunately we only had half a day in the city, so we didn't have much time to explore as much as we would have liked.

P.S. After looking at this shot once again, I am wondering how many live people are actually part of the 'sculpture'. I wish that I had had more time to study it carefully!! Certainly the man at the top does not look too real, what do you think?

Well spotted!
This living statue demands attention!
Though the colours are all subdued, you have done well to make this stand out against the similarly coloured b/g.
We may be aware of the trickery but, like you, I cannot imagine anyone maintaining this position for long!!

Hello Jean,
I suppose they are all alive and weighing some 60-80 kg each, which makes it hard to understand how they can perform this trick. Even with some kind of construction hidden in their clothes it seems like an unbearably uncomfortable way of earning some meagre coins. Of course this was a photo that had to be taken, even for the nice background.

I don't remember where, but I have seen a living statue like this one somewhere once as well. It is quite impressive indeed and well captured here in front of an appealing view of the city.

Setting of these street artists looks so crazy, that it certainly catches attention. And worth a photo and a little change for the artists. Old town background looks good too. Light was far from optimal though.

Hello Jean, After seeing more similar living statues we know what is the trick but in any case sitting like this for several hours without movement and food or drink is difficult to imagine. A very nice composition with the view of Verona in the background. For me, Verona is underestimated. It is a fascinating city that deserves a longer time to visit.

This is one of the most spectacular 'living statues' I've ever seen.
Even though there is some construction or trick for this, it remains a difficult exercise.

I spotted a similar act in Prague. Might load it one of these days. Good catch of the entertainers dressed in Arabian costumes and seemingly performing magical tricks. Loved Verona, as indeed almost every Italian city I have been to. Tfs!

Hi Jean,
The central one certainly looks real but the other two are either fake or pretending so well.
Either way it seems a very complicated statue. I wonder who is inventing them.
The weather was English-like, I suppose in the aurtumn even in Italy there is a risk of bad weather. But the statue does brighten up the street and adds some life and interest here.

I remember a similar group in verona when I was there, but in those days they had only two people involved. yes, Verona is so beautiful and a half day isn't able to see everything. excellent image, I remember some places I had no time to visit.
