Land of wines, a photo from Cuneo, Piedmont

Photographer's Note

One of the most beautiful and unchanged villages of the Langhe, surrounded by the hills of the great wines, around 80 km from Turin.
This shot is taken from the higher tower of the Castle, which is considered one of the best preserved examples of noble castles of fourteenth century in Piedmont, and it is unique in Italy.
Serralunga has 530 inhabitants, most of them working in the production of famous wines (Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, Barolo), or managing B&Bs and restaurants.
Langhe and Roero are also known for the precious truffle.
After the visit of the Castle and of the village, we had a nice dinner here...

Hello Camilla,
You had a fantastic view from that tower and took a fine photo. The beautiful warm light is part of the explanation, but it is also generally a superb view of the red brick roofs surrounded by the lovely green scenery

Indeed the title is fairly describes the landscape we see, Camilla.
We visited a similar village near by, Barbaresco, and the hills around here reminding me the sight all over the area.
Fabulous picture with good afternoon light and visibility that enhances the vineyards contourlines.

Hello,

my compliments I love and know quite well the region of Piemonte.
Piemonte is rich of little and characteristic villages like Serralunga, it is full of hills where good wine is produced, not only wine but also very good food and a lot of places to visit.
This is a great panorama, good pov and perpsective.

This picture gives a marvellous view over this country of the wines and this village in the center. A perfect POV and attractive bright colours. I think it is a picture that can be used to the advertising of these, without doubt, delicious wines.

Ciao Camila,

You had a beautiful vantage point to shoot this photograph of Serralunga Alba, from a higher tower than we are looking at. I thought it might have been from a drone. Craig Macintosh just submitted a photo from his visit to Ireland, Flying Above the Rocks where he has used a drone.

Regarding the artificial perspective introduced by Bramante in the Chiesa Santa Satira, I knew about the church from a visit in 2006. I've written two books on Leonardo, "Math and the Mona Lisa" (Smithsonian Books, 2004) and "Leonardo's Universe" (National Geographic Books, 2009). I am writing a new book "The Transformative Genius: In the Minds of Leonardo, Shakespeare, Newton, Beethoven, and Einstein." (Ordinary geniuses do not need to apply.) And after our little exchange, I've decided to include that photo, Chiesa San Satiro, in a chapter called "Nature Can Be Fooled," in the book. Thank you,
