Photographer's Note
Hello Everyone,
I think that this might be my last post from Rome, for the time being. I just don't want to bore people with my enthusiasm !
I dedicate this photograph to MarieLouise who visited Rome earlier this year and posted a different view of the Trevi Fountain, too!
I liked the distortions caused by the water and the swirling light patterns. On my title, I wanted to add some notes for who can mention this fountain without singing 'Three Coins in the Fountain' but the site would not allow it!
Anyway, this was my view of the Trevi Fountain, as I was deciding where to cast my coin, and make a wish!
The fountain was very popular and completely surrounded by tourists so this was a view that was uninterrupted!
As workshops, I will post details of the sculptures around the fountain, more conventional views.
Have a good day, Bev :-)

Hello Bev,
Your two additional pictures are the most beautiful, but this is my persnal opinion.
Wonderful architect pictures with all the nice details.
Your main picture is more a modern painting, nice of colour.
Nice composition and lovely sharp presentation.
Very well done, TFS.
Best regards,
John

Hello Beverley
Who knows, one of those coins could be the 1 cent euro I threw in the same fountain in 2013! But it's more likely that due to the sheer number of tourists the coins are removed, banked and donated to charities once a year. Did my coin work? Well yes and no. I did return to Rome, but only as a brief 5 minute stopover enroute from Naples to Bologna. I like the distortion and tight framing here. Tfs!

Hello Bev,
This is a delightful photo, much more fun than the conventional WS pictures. I can't help but immediately thinking of the Chilean painter Roberto Matta, known as an abstract expressionist and surrealist. If you are not familiar with him you should check him out. I am sure you will find something very similar to this. It' s a lovely picture of distorted reflections and fine colours. I also can't see anything from this fountain without thinking of Anita Ekberg walking through it in La Dolce Vita. Nowadays I believe it is strictly forbidden to step into the water. As for what happens to the coins, staff from the Catholic organization Caritas pick them up every night, at an average of about 1800 punds a day, and give them to those in need (not local politicians, I guess).
Kind regards,
Gert

Bonjour Beverly,
J'ai eu le plaisir d'assister très tôt le matin au ramassage des pièces de monnaie dans la fontaine de Trévi. Je peux te certifier qu'il y avait beaucoup d'argent aspiré. J'aime beaucoup cette composition.
Amicalement

Hello Bev,
Hee, hee, I've just read Stephen's (snunney) critique and I had had exactly the same thoughts - who gets to pocket these coins at the end of the day? As a skilled detectorist yourself, you will realise that many modern coins are, in fact, magnetic and I have often thought about taking a magnet on a string with me to our local pond to see if I could trawl a few coins. ;-)
Anyway, this is a lovely abstract image with some beautiful colours but I must confess that I do prefer your two workshop images. Call me a boring old curmudgeon if you like but I love the sharp details of the magnificent sculptures and stonework in those two photographs. And somehow, despite the crowds, you have managed to capture three excellent pictures without a single intrusion from another tourist.
A good note too.
Excellent!
Kind Regards,
John.

Good evening Beverley,
Beautiful turquoise color of the fontana, which is one famous location always crowded with tourists. Distorted wonderful water surface and light reflection.
I do not remember wether it is said that nobody may take coins out of the water-bed, bad luck if one doe's...
My best regards,
Ike

Bonjour Beverley,
This is true abstract Art we can see through your eyes! :) I quite like the effect... your idée was surprising and attractive, thank you for the smile I got when opening that thumbnail.
But your two added workshops let us see how beautiful the architecture, especially the 2nd one against a marvellous blue sky, stunning!
Amitiés,

Hi Bev,
Cyan tones of this fountain view certainly catch attention even in fingerprint size. Fun to see all those distorted shapes of coins. Did you make a wish for a heart shaped reflection? Because that is very very lucky!

Hi Bev
did you visit the fountain at night? it's even better. and yes, it does have a sort of abstract painting feel/vibe to it, the wavy pattern of movement helps to bring your shot alive.
nice to see something different from here, which is very hard to do, but also nice to see the WS's. Did your wish come true?
cheers
Craig

Hello Beverley,
I saw the famous Trevi Fountain twice during my recent stay in Rome, once in the evening and once during the day, but then there was no water in the fountain, because it was being cleaned and maybe also all the coins at the bottom were taken out, I am not sure. This photo is a very artistic one with the wonderful distortions of the coins and the ripples of the water. Well spotted and captured.

Hello Bev,
You have made an excellent choice by posting this photo as the main photo. If you say Trevi fountain you think of coins in the water. Here we see the coins and the beautiful sparkles in the water. This symbolizes this touristic highlight beautifully. The 2 ws photos are a good addition.
Excellent work.
Have a nice day. Groet Rob

Ciao Bev
tra le tre foto che ci presenti, hai scelto la più originale.
E' strano come tutti quanti vediamo questa cosa andando a Roma, ma nessuno pensa a fotografare i soldi nelle fontana.
Saluti

Hi Bev. You too threw the coin that hardly reach the coffers of the city of Rome but will be stolen by the gypsies who fish with magnets when no policeman is in the area. But the pic is a great idea, the distorsions of the water over the coins is beautiful,so the composition is very original. I like a lot the 2 WS too, always difficult to take a pic without people there,so i agree your choice of a watch to the top. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hello Bev,
Original view of the Trevi Fountain as the main upload and more traditional as Workshops. Usually, it is such a crowded place as everyone would love to visit Rome again after throwing the coins. And who doesn't remember the view of Anita Ekberg in Dolce Vita.
Kind regards Malgo

Hi Bev
What I like most about this photo is the lack of tourists that normally stop any view of the fountain. A neatly different view.

Good morning Bev and thank you so much for your dedication.
Your caption of the fountain is very artistic. I particularly like the lovely, white pattern made by the current in the water. Very elegant !
I also like the distortion of the coins in shape and in color.
Thanks for sharing.
Warmest regards.
Marie-Louise.
