Photographer's Note
‘Tetovo - Bey’s Hamam’
Next to the Pena River in Tetovo you find the Bey’s Hamam.
It originates from the 15th century and it is one of the most beautiful monuments from that time.
In the Ottoman period it was a bathhouse. This function no longer exists today.
Now there’s an art gallery. It is used for exhibitions and also for poet reading, promotions and other smaller manifestations. The gallery has around 350 square meters showground with floor heating, marble floor and additionally lighting in the inside.
The building could be visited freely.

Hello Paul,
It's interesting to learn that there is more than one fine building to visit in Tetovo. This is not as spectacular as the "deck of cards-mosque" but a very nice building, especially from the outside like in the main photo. It actually makes me think of some Byzantine churches I have seen in Greece. It has a nice location by the narrow river and with the hills seen in the distance.
I like both WS too. The detail of the ceiling is, to my mind, more appealing than the bright decorations of the mosque. The art gallery seems like a good way of using the fine old building, even though the exhibition of that time didn't seem very interesting.
Best regards,
Gert

Dag Paul,
het had zomaar een kapel kunnen zijn maar een 15e eeuws badhuis is wel zo bijzonder. Altijd water bij de hand zo dicht bij de rivier.

Hi Paul, even if the building's intended use is no longer what it used to be, it is a good thing that the building has been preserved and still shows original parts of the time as I can see in the 2 ws. A great example of Ottoman architecture, with typical public baths, excellent catch as always, I didn't think this city offered so many beautiful surprises! Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hello Paul, this is a beautiful building, and you have caught it in a lovely light.
A very good point of view where the river is a good leading line towards the tree covered hills.
Pleased to read that the building is being used, an art gallery is a good alternative.
The w/s shots are interesting extras too.
Kind regards, Jean.

Goedenavond Paul,
Prachtige samenstelling, goed foto werk.
Prettige avond verder,
John.

Hallo Paul,
De foto is mooi in balans tussen het snel stromende riviertje met het landschap op de achtergrond en het mooie oude gebouw op de oever. De patronen van de oude stenen muren zijn mooi te zien in het heldere licht.

Hello Paul, Nice view of this Paradise Hamam in Tetovo. Nicely set near the river. The exhibition doesn't seem especially interesting. The ceiling is typical for hamams. Beautiful composition. I saw similar hamams recently. (wait...)

Pozdrav.
Lep pogled, dobar tekst ...

Hallo Paul
For some reason this shot reminds me of Prizren in Kosovo, which also has a stream flowing through the town and many Ottoman as well as Serbian relics. Good sharpness and framing. Tfs!

Hi Paul
A good photo of this great looking old hamam. I've seen them with various reuses - in Istanbul there was (surprise, surprise) a carpet shop in one.
cheers

Good morning Paul,
The old stones in different brown and red colors with old-era design and the water alongside's made this picture so attractive.
Excellent allocation with nature and urban combined surrounding.
Have a nice sunday,

Ha! Ha! I read this as ‘Bev’s Hamam’ originally!
It’s a very attractive building with an almost checkerboard effect, created by the materials.
I’m so pleased that it has been given such a useful role now that it is no longer a bathhouse.
You have revealed its very attractive site, beside the river.
The details of the ceiling are beautiful.
My warm regards,
Bev 😊

Hello Paul,
Nice view of this bath house that must have been built by an Ottoman governor (= bey). I like the fact that it and the creek are pointing to the hills.

Hello Paul.
Another wonder of this city that was unknown to me, magnificent the construction of these baths, very well preserved inside it is easily appreciated its primitive use, although now it is dedicated to other use, precious situation next to the river.
Very nice color that highlights the strength of the image.
Magnificent management of luminosity and sharpness, to capture the details.
Very well done. I like it.
Have a great day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hi Paul,
Lovely composition. Very clear and sharp image. Why is it that you were waiting to share these beautiful photos so long?
It seems the covid restrictions are slowly coming back. And since the variants are certainly keep coming, I wonder whether the travel will ever get back to the normal level again.

Hello Paul,
Tetovo is a very photogenic city that deserves more visitors. This small structure is also beautiful; I like the patterns and colors of the stones, and I like your composition next to the river. The hills in the background are nice, too.
