Photographer's Note
Malta is known for its many churches and almost an entire Catholic population. There is an interesting story of the church physically protecting the people - a bomb went off destroying everything around except for who was under the church dome.
Unfortunately for many Maltese people, there's more employment in North Africa and in Europe, so many of them have left the island for work. The island has been built-up with holiday accomodation and when we were there, it was mostly retired British escaping the dark Northern winters.
Despite the invasion, once out of the beach resort areas, the towns have held onto their charm, such as this town, Mdina - "the silent city."

This is a very nice close up view of the statue holding up the light in front of the cathedral behind. I like your effect, and I think it fits well with your note. Even the tilt of the tower and the gray skies. Maybe a little too tight view, but I think really nice.

Nice composition and depth-of-field work -- background has just enough focus. I almost wonder if there is a little too much head-room above the statue (probably in order to get the spire completely in the frame. Still, nice image.
