Photographer's Note

This recent gouache is painted by my old friend Paul Werner, who paints already for fourty years in a very expressive style. It shows a vue of the Oosterdok (East-docks), close to the Central Station in Amsterdam where many new constructions arise now. This was the situation of mai 2005, and the gouache is made on a few photos I made from the roof of the former post-building, where now the museum of modern art is located for some years. You can go to the top there for free and have a beautiful vue on Amsterdam city.
On the very left you see the towers and dome of the Saint Nicolas church, opposite to Central Station. In the middle lies the station itself, behind the orange crane. On the right the mighty curve of river IJ.
