Photographer's Note
Early in June we spent a week camping in the Veerse forest, just 10 mins cycle ride to the quaint town of Veere. The weather gods were with us that week and we had sunshine every day. A wonderful area to hike and cycle. rnrnThe town began as the hamlet of Kampvere in the 13th century. Veere only began to flourish in the 16th century, when it became the staple port for Scottish wool. A Scottish colony was established in Veere at that time, complete with its own governor.rnrnVeere was an important city in the Dutch Republic. But during the Batavian Republic that followed, it again became a poor fishing port.rnrnAlthough Veere lost its staple rights in 1799, Scottish interest in the city remained. No European town ever played a more important economic role for Scotland than Veere once did.

Hello Elaine,
A pleasantly simple but elegant composition and an interesting story in the note. Nice blue and grey tones dominate the view.

Hi Elaine, you still have to thank the luck you had with the weather, think if you went last week !! Beautiful composition from this port that in the past has experienced golden moments and mixed fortunes, still remains a historical memory of the past, beautiful minimalist and geometric composition. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Elaine,
A superb coastal scene of the harbour entrance and the gulls and boats add focal points. Good sharpness and an interesting note. Tfs!

Hello Elaine,
To be near the sea, when the weather is good, must be a photographer's dream!
The cool colours do not depress the scene in any way, in fact they make it look very fresh!
The vertical lines (not sure whether a jetty or harbour wall) are a strong feature, dividing the scene nicely and providing a perch for the gulls.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)
