Summer of 2011, a photo from Sor-Trondelag, South

Photographer's Note

When this image was taken in early June we still had hopes for a fine summer of 2011..!

Now we know that didn’t happen, fact is the summer has been the worst for ages, weather wise. Depending on the criteria, but some says it is the worst for 111 years, which means since the recordings started. Needless to say photography has been suffering!

An amazing amount of rain, we had regular flooding in August that is very unusual, if it happens that takes place in May/June or late autumn after heavy rain.

Now the hope is for a fine autumn hehehe…

The image shows the small wooden church (1754) in Enodd, a village passed on the road to Forollhogna National Park, which I visited twice this summer.

Great colours and composition. The birch trees and the wooden fence provide a fine foreground and the church is nicely surrounded by green leaves and grass that complement the red very well. Yes, we had great hopes a few months ago. Next year maybe...:-)

Yup, you know Norway. You can never expect sun... By the way, I'm sure you mean the summer of 2011 in the intro there.

The picture is very nice. A nice framing with the trees and the fence. Perhaps a little too much of them, but it would be hard to make it any better. Still, the red church catches the attention well. And well, I think it shows a piece of Norway. Good work!

we had in Germany also a bad summer weather with a lot of rains,and Norway had also in July this terrible attack...it was for sure not a fine summer...
but we all hope for a beautiful autumn!

Pablo Interestingly I have noticed that the houses in Norway there are basically painted red.
His photo shows a nice-looking, particularly in the foreground is where the fence and trees with a very interesting texture in the trunks.

after the worst summer in many years, I hope that the autumn is much better.
Luckily you could take this nice photo in early June, with a good light and with a few beautiful colors.
I like the architecture of this wooden church and its red color, which you have combined skillfully with the green tones of the trees and of the grass, in a composition with a very effective framing.

Hello Pablo,
Except for the flooding we had the same miserable summer here in Belgium. The only really nice summer days I had, were the 10 days I spent in Sweden.
The picture however suggests a beautiful day with many pieces of blue sky between the clouds and with nice shadows of the foliage on the wooden fence.
The composition is excellent and the vivid red wooden facade and tower in a green surrounding are so typical Scandinavian and a real eyecatcher.

Also in Poland it was a bad summer, but i can't tell for how many years. Now we are enjoying fine weather but the autumn is approaching. beautfiful church, unusual red wooden one. it looks great behind the birch trees. Delightful composition.

Obviously not the most representative photo of the summer of 2011 in Norway. but for sure a wonderful summer photo. I love your inclusion of the birch trees and the wooden fence in the foreground. I sure this is much better photo than a photo taken standing at the fence. The wooden church with walls painted in red very nice and unusal. TFS and have nice evening!

Don't complain about the Summer, here in Argentina Winter was the worst in...many,many years, days without sun and with..ashes from a Chilean volcano, no flights and not sky at all

Anyway you compose a Summer shot plenty of colors (great red church)and contrasts
Like the wooden fence as a kind of frame

Your favourite subject, typical wooden buidings painted red. At first sight, I thought it was a house with an elaborate architecture. All the more interesting to know it's an old church, so well kept after all these years !
Great composition with this close-up and the natural decoration provided by the lace of the tree branches.
Marvellous bright, happy colours that probably make you nostalgic about good weather.
As you say, one must hope for a good after-season.

When you say worst summer, do you mean you had no summer at all this time around?

You were not alone in that! My daughter lives in London and they had no summer at all. Same thing in Germany and Switzerland I heard....
Fine composition much in your style, with a classic Norwegian red church surrounded by fine trees and lawn. The colours are really so vivid and summer like and the subject much deserving.

So it was? In Russia's North-West it was not that bad as previous one, not that hot. Also, last summer there were no rain for two months, and this summer it was significantly more often...
Anyway, here are the very good photo, intense red color - seems like whole Sweden and half of Norway being painted this paint.
