Photographer's Note
My second picture from Norway's one of the most beautiful Fjords.
Back than it was a small village with one dock for ferries, almost no vehicles.
This POV taken from the road that goe's around the shore, however it was still closed at some distant point due to the snow piled and remain in May 2nd that year.
Here is how to go to Fla°m from Bergen and back: A train change from Myrdal, a mountain-train riding down to the village, and there is a boat cruise across the Fjord back to Bergen.
Location on map: 60.8616, 7.1255
A scanned print, sorry for the post with not the best paper quality.

Beautiful view of the fjord and the majestic cliffs surrounding it. Good POV, that includes the roofs of the town in the foreground.

Hello Ike,
Flåm is wonderfully located in the innermost part of the fjord whereby the mountain slopes rise up steeply next to the village and the waterfront.
I guess that in the beginning of May it was still not spring there since the branches on the foreground are leafless.
A beautiful image in a nostalgic colour.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Ike,
The colours remind me of an old postcard and bring a touch of nostalgia to the whole. I like the point of view very much. The light is very appealing and the clarity is excellent. An image, though now 35 years old that has lost none of its allure.

Hi Ike
A fine natural landscape and I love that you placed the houses as such as it gives scale and an idea as to the view the people living here enjoy. Imagine waking up to this view every day! It would make getting out of bed that bit easier.
Best wishes

Hi Ike,
The wideness of the fjord is giving depth to the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the side of the fjord and of the houses. Even if it is the scan of an old picture the colors are OK. Have a nice day.

Shalom Ike
Don't excuse yourself for the quality of this scanned photo. To me it is exactly the faded colors and the dated feel of this scene that makes its great charm.
I bet that Flåm does look still the same today as it was back then in the 80ties.
Wonderful view over the top of the village towards the fjord and behind.
have a great time

Hello Ike,
Another spectacular landscape from 35 years ago with lovely, nostalgic colors. The scanning has kept the sharpness and shady tones very well and for a photo this age it doesn't matter much that the colors are slightly faded. Actually, just for fun I tried the "Auto color correction" of Photoshop Elements, and just one click was enough to reduce the brownish tones considerably. I won't bother to make a workshop, but there are nearly always possibilities of improvements in any photo.
Kind regards,
Gert

Ciao Ike
questa foto non dimostra gli anni che ha, il fiordo è ben inquadrato e l'immagine è di ottima qualità.
Con una conversione in b&w non si accorgerebbe nessuno dell'età dello scatto.

Hello Ike,
This photo from 35 years ago reveals the simple village that Flam was in 1980. I remember Flam from pair of visits in 1994 and 2006, when we took the train ride to the Waterfalls.

Hello Ike
I've been there last year. I must dig up the memory card and upload one of the better shots I took there one of these days. A superb vintage analogue shot from 1980. It has a slight blue magenta color cast easily fixed by adding yellow and green to suit taste. Perfect sharpness and a nice high pov. Tfs.

and i have to say it, i wonder if its more developed now, with more touristy shops etc....

Hello Ike,
I like this composition very much, it looks well balanced and complete and I enjoy how our glance is led around the scenery. It's an impressive setting and the integration of the houses in the foreground is superb. I also like the nostalgic tint that makes the scene look more suggestive and even older. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,

Hello Ike,
I must say, the sepia effect certainly adds much charm to your photograph and would hold enormous interest to the people who live there, for modern day comparisons.
It's a very well composed photograph, showing the character of the houses, the scale to the boats and the overwhelming presence of the step-sided, snow-capped fjord slopes.
No-one could dispute the beauty of the shot.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Ike
Well; this is a really exelently composed photo, and the brownisk colors - possibly like this due to old age ... are actually very nice and work as "fuel" on the nostalgia-machine. I really like it a lot.
Thanks for sharing this pearl.

Hello Ike,
I can't believe the 80s are distant history for our children. It must be how distant the 40s seem to me. This is an excellent photo showing the timeless beauty of the fjord albeit in fading colors, which I find charming.

Hello Ike
Another nice, old capture from my country. I really like this area. Very close to Flåm and Aurland you also find the 17 km long Nærøyfjord which now is on the Unesco`s World Heritage List. We can see that even back then you were a good photographer and really found a nice viewpoint in the hillside with a stunning view of the fjord and impressive mountains. The colours have an old feel to it. A lovely shot:)
PS! Perhaps I could look up this spot some day and capture some shots. Just to make you see the difference. Flåm is today 2,5 hours drive from Bergen.
Greetings, Erling

Hello Ike,
Thank you so much for your kind critique of my recent photographs from Flåm!
Your photograph from 28 years ago is delightful and has superb composition. The colours might not be perfectly true and the image has a sepia tone to it but, as you state in your note, the photo was printed on not the best quality paper.
You have also written a fascinating and informative note about your journey to Flåm too.
Superb!
Kindest Regards,
John.

That's a nice travel in time you offered here, Ike. I appreciate the vintage hues, they rightfully signify the fact that this in fact is a historic document. And it's fabulously composed one and there's still a lot of local detail to discerned. Enjoy the upcoming weekend, Bert.
