A walk on the beach, a photo from Rogaland, South

Photographer's Note

The beach at Sola, the snow on one side the ocean on the other and a nice path in the middle... The snow has been taken away from this line due to the ocean.

I ran the photo thrugh auto levels in photo shop, this increased the white and the blue sky.

Please tel me what you think.

Very good composition and viewpoint - the path leads you into the photo and divides the blue sea from the white snow. I like the smooth waves contrasting with the jagged edge of the snow.

It could be a bit sharper and I'm not sure what time of day it was taken? The light is a bit flat.
There also seems to be some speckles in the sky which could be cloned out: I'll try a workshop tomorrow to see if it makes any difference.

Hello Halgeir, I do not want to repeat what Brian mentioned.. Im not sure the conditions at the time of this shot but it is lacking detail, may be you should try higher resolution when you take the picture and resize it so you don't loose too much detail. Nevertheless good picture, tfs

Halgier, I like the contrast between the snow, the sand and the beach. A very unusual capture. Usually this kind of image have more impact if the horizon line is a third of the composition, by dividing the image in two, gets very static. TFS

Hi Halgeir,
Although I like very much your photos of the horse, this landscape captured my attention, because it's not a common sight for me and I find it strange and very beautiful. The shot is well taken and with an excellent manage of lighting. I like to see the details on the snow surface and the view of the seashore in the left background. Good work and thanks a lot for sharing.

Here in Spain never have snow on the beach so this is an amazing, and unusuall, picture for me. I like it.

Maybe needs a little more definition although.

Nice contrast to what you normally see at this beach.
I was thinking of taking a similar one myself.
Good composition with bright white snow and the almost oily dark sea on the other side of the strech of sand.
There is a bit lack of a spesific motif here, but the spectacular view of of what is a swarming beach at summertime covered in snow is enough to make things very interesting.

Hi Halgeir,
And I thought a walk along the beach was a summertime activity! ;-) This scene appears to be very cold!
Although there's no specific subject here apart from the beach, the pic is pleasantly attractive. From a photographic perspective, the pic is pretty good. Your light management is good, the contrasts and colours are good, and so is the overall composition.
Where things appear to start deteriorating is with the image manipulation prior to posting. For some reason, there seems to be some small blotches in middle of the sky and I don't know what might have caused it but I suspect it happened when you adjusted the pic. Hopefully someone else may be able to offer some suggestions. In the mean time, try avoiding the 'auto' adjustments and manipulate the setting manually. That way you can see what's happening as you go and the adjustments can be more subtle. I must confess that I'm still learning as well. Good luck with it, my friend.
Keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing plenty more nice pics from you.
