Photographer's Note

St. Mary's Basilica is one of the most prominent churches in Krakow. It has quite a rich history which dates back to 1221. The first church was destroyed during Mongol invasion of Poland. I mention this fact in particular as nowadays it may be hard to imagine how a country such distant as Mongolia could possibly have a border with a country in Central Europe. The church was rebuilt and redecorated many times. It involved quite important names in Polish history. The most popular attraction inside the church is the late Gothic altar: a sculptural masterpiece by Veit Stoss. You can spot it in this photo at the very end of the church. This interior is a MUST see when you are in Krakow. Sadly I had just a very short moment to take a photo so this is the only one I got and it does not give a justice to this impressive place.
