About Poland. Page Thirteen: About Coastline
Typical spring view at the Polish seaside. The coastline spreads from West (frontier with Germany) towards East (frontier with Russia) through 500 killometers of sandy beaches. Despite the fact that it is a very southern part of the Baltic Sea water temperature hardly ever exceeds 20 degrees Celsjus, even during the summer time. But it does not prevent thousands of people from comming there for their holiday every summer.

Hi Jerzy,
a peacefull scene.
The light is just perfect so as the composition with this man on the right side.
The little thing which disturbs me a bit is the orphan lamp on the left.

When I visited this pier it was raining and few people ventured to the end of the pier. We walked all along and spoke with some fishermen hoping to catch some fish. One of them told us the water is about 7 mts deep at the end of the pier. Anyway, nice picture. I like the seagulls flying over the p[ier and the sun lighting the day. The guy on the right is well placed. Nice work Jerzy.

Kadrowałbym bardziej z lewej, ponieważ nie podoba mi się ta wystająca końcówka latarni. Fota jest ok, Sopot, molo i zmęczony biznesmen na ławce, ale ważny jest tutaj opis.
Pozdrawiam, Marek.

I would have included a bit more of that wooden floor. There is just to much empty sky for my taste. But I like this photo. It really transmit a great sensation of calmness and stillness. Mainly because of that sleepy man in black on the right. He is a bit tiny, and I bet the responsible for this breathable compo of yours. The seagulls waving in the sky are great and the golden light too. Good shot! 20 degrees? Not bad at all!

Hi Jerzy,
I would love to sit there ... looks so nice and peaceful. I like the composition, but I agree with Fred. I would crop out the lamp on the left and maybe even a bit from the top.
Nevertheless a very nice image of the scenery.

Oh this is NICE, J, a painting, really. You really, how shall I put this...stretch the frame here with the grad post on the left and that fellow on the extreme right...the broad world betwen them...
A quick question: why no more exif data or lens data or anything anymore? Is there a reason? You can imagine why such a controversial equpment person like myself should ask that question...;o)

hi jerzy
Good spring details from the coast environment. Few people good for this compo where the seagulls are a fine 'addon'. Also the right fading light to have the mood of the warm colours.

Hi J.
Excellent composition with the bank on the right-hand side as an introduction to the sea.
Furthermore, the man sleeping gives it a lovely "feeling".

No i oto chodzi. Samotny facet "buduje" to zdjęcie, co nie oznacza, że reszta jest bez znaczenia, ale bez niego byłoby zupełnie inaczej. Pozdrawiam.

Uwielbiam wasnie takie kompozycje, czyli duzo pustego i w tym czlowiek. A ty tu masz faktycznie strasznie duzo pustego.

Ladne, cieple barwy i mewy robiące zamieszanie.

Witaj Jerzy.
Great composition and graphism. This is really a clever shot where the human presence and the "urban" elements are combined in a great way.
Simple, but wonderful.
Thanks for share.

I suppose you know Harry Gruyaert's work on northern french or Belgium beaches.
I suppose the northern sea beaches, from France to probably Russia, retain a similar mood, something slightly depressing under a gorgeous light, like any time of the year was fall season.
I believe I haven't seen photos of these places under a grey dull sky, because the photographer might have committed suicide slightly afterwards.

Weekendish, relaxing and soothing.
With the strong message for the constantly hungry seagulls...
Oh, shut-up guys, you...Up there...Yes...You !!
Have a great day, Mr. B.

I like this shot J.
I like your compo...at the first seen i thought that tha place of the sky was too much....but after...i saw better and i think it works in this way....the sky gives a breath to scene...
The lights are intersting and the compo well balanced...
Ciao.

Jerzy, poraz kolejny pokazałeś klasę i umiejętność wczucia się w ten specyficzny sopocko-wietrzny klimat.
Cudowna ekspozycja, świetne kompo i niesamowity klimat!
Rewelacyjne, nasze rodzime klimaty.
Czy używałeś tu statywu??
Pozdrawiam serdecznie, A.

Hej Jerzy,
Pozdrawiam

Mixed emotions for this one Jerzy. I think it could benefit from some improvements, in my very humble opinion. Some have already mentioned about the sky. In fact, I think it is not that much that there is too much sky, but for me, I think there is not enough of the floor. I like the graphical lines of this photo: the floor, the bench (?) the row of lights and the balustrade. Now, is it me, or there is a slight tilt to the right? Also, I agree with Fred (delnaja) about the light at the left side. And last of my nitpickings: the dust spot in the center of the photo that could be easily removed.
I hope you will not mind my not very enthusiastic critique... But let me say this to you: I almost enjoyed this photo. That's why I wrote what I did. Because I like the feeling of the warming sun, the sea, the birds there and that unique person there, bathing in the sun. There is atmosphere in this photo! Darn! Almost...

Well, this time the thumbnail has tricked me; I did not expect this delicacy. But delicate this is; the wooden boards, the sunlit white bench, the seagulls circling around in the air above the water. All are so serene. Reminds me a bit of the world of Alex Colville. There is a geometry and crispness here that evokes his paintings. And this also reminds me of Gdansk.

A great seaside shot Jerzy; it's good to see that you have these piers as well. It's Poland of course, but this could just as easily have been taken at an English seaside town.
The light is great, and has given you wonderfully "clean" colours.
Great stuff.
Cheers,
Ben
