Storm, a photo from Pomorskie, West

Photographer's Note

Autumn has started, the wind came, temperature descended, leaves fell down from the trees... Most of people and animals (including my dog) don`t like strong wind, but it could make a fantastic spectacle like the one on the image. It blew up to 90 km/hour, the waves on the sea grew to 2-3 meters and they hit intense at the pier, trying to destroy it.
I spent two hours hunting for a view such this one. Unfortunately the Sun was almost all time covered by the clouds, so I didn`t have many occasions to take a good photo.

The beacon on the image is almost 6 meters high.

Impressionnante tempête, la mer est plus noire que le ciel et cette balise rouge qui se détache sur la vague, c'est superbe.
Quelle patience et nombre de clichés pour avoir enfin une magnifique image.

noo brutalne to nieco... czyli megaświetne!
spodziewałam się czegoś innego z zapowiedzi ale jednak w rzeczywistości wyglada to lepiej niż sobie wyobrażałąm :)moment jest nieziemski!!!

Impressive catch of the splashing waves, really intense. I like a lot their fan-shape! A good contrast between the dark hues of the sky and the sea and the beautiful light on the waves. A great day you had :) and I wish you a nice weekend also :)

Gratulujê dwóch (a w zasadzie trzech) rzeczy: samozaparcia i cierpliwo¶ci w oczekiwaniu na widok, który warto by utrwaliæ w takich ekstremalnych warunkach, no i...wspania³ego zdjêcia.
Podoba mi siê dominuj±ca kolorystyka tej fotki - grafit, biel i nadaj±ca wyrazisto¶æ temu zdjêciu, czerwieñ (super akcent!). Rozbryzguj±ce siê fale (wygl±daj± jak chmury) s± niesamowicie wysokie i gro¼ne. A fale plus kolorystyka tworz± niesamowity nastrój na tej fotce. A jeszcze jest tu perfekcyjna ostro¶æ...

A więc jednak się skusiłeś :) Fajnie wyszlo, nawet fakt, że niebo jest jednostajne tutaj nie przeszkadza, wyraźniej widać fale. Dobrze, że nie zrobiłeś zielonego beacona, bo normalnie wiesz... :)

An excellent way to demonstrate the power of nature and well worth waiting for. Maybe you didn't like the light but the black sky provides a good contrast for the white wave that has been highlighted so well with a ray of sun that managed to find a gap in the cloud. The touches or red in the image also have high impact.

Henryk, I can understand why your dog didn't like the weather. I wouldn't like it either, but I like the picture a lot. Amazing that you got so much details with just 1/100s. The power of the wind is very well seen here. The composition with the pier and the beacon placed on the right side of your photo is very good.

Hi Henryk,
Nature's fury is in full swing here. Your patient efforts were rewarded with very fine light hitting the foreground and mid-scene, with the darkened, threatening sky. The full power and dynamism of the wave is perfectly captured. I also like the composition and the way the pier angles in but does not totally dominate the scene, with the red beacon enhancing with its shape and hue. Very well captured.

Hello Henryk,

Again a very effective photo. The composition is exquisite, and the timing perfect. The dark sky serves well as the backdrop for the bright red beacon, and the white of the splashing wave. Very good shot. What I enjoyed the most, "Date Taken: 2006-10-27," "Date Submitted: 2006-1-27 14:24." It reminds me of the fish restaurants on the Bosphorous in Istanbul. Fisherman for the restaurant are seen catching the fish, and the kitchen staff preparing the fish for the customer immediately thereafter. Regards, Bulent

This is really excellent!! Well worth the search!! You've really captured the stunning power of the way against the stormy sky. The framing is excellent with the wave seeming to almost fill the frame and the light to provide a frame of refernce as the awesone size. The clarity of the light in the wave is amazing.

this is the catch I dream to make everyday of storm here but the wind is never at the right place and I live in a northern coast of Brittany which means that this bloody wind is blowing mainly from the land.
All is a success in this one with coors and light and perfect time to catch..

Wow! A magnificent capture of a storm in the pier, with this gigantic wave that strikes it with great force. It is spectacular and must be very impressive to be there, waiting to obtain this photo. Your patience has given you a prize with this beautiful image, and do not worry for not having the Sun decorating the photo, with the wave jumping on the wharf and the beacon you fill the whole composition, it is not necessary to have anything any more.

Spectacular capture of this explosion, Henryk. We can see here, how strong can the sea be and how it can make so many dammage in the coasts around the world...including my old ixus ;-)
You seem like floating above the water, but I guess the the pier makes a curve this way. Very good!

Wonderful shot Henryk. Color, contrast and light is excellent and the wave is not "frozen" from too fast shutter - great, keeps action in the shot.
