About Poland. Page Six: About Lithuanians
Before we move to the next place please have a look at a young Lithuanian girl in a traditional ethnic dress. The house is a sort of museum carefully fostered by the locals living in Punsk.
An interesting story about these people is that many of them leave the place to study in Warsaw, Vilnius, or elsewhere but they always come back to the place to live here. A mother of this girl is a teacher in Punsk, she studied literature in Warsaw, speaks fluent Polish (always with that lovely, "singing" eastern accent).

Looks like a fascinating place to visit, nicely arranged portrait. Wish I had time for a visit one day there (when I'm so often so close) but always rushed.

This is a really lovely image J and a very nice addition to your series - everything here works so well all except fot the lighting on the girls face - it is so flat really when my first instinct would have been to try and achieve a modelling light that added varieties of light and shade - now in some ways it de-emphasises her and integrates her with the surroundings really well, more anyway - she is less the star of the show but an ensemble actor amongst others....the more I look at it the more your choice works for me and the more my instinct to do something diferent fades in the background.....my pale green or dark green smile rests on your intentions here, whaqt you saw and what you wanted us to see .....and sometimes you just have to go with the best that you get unless you go out to engineer a shot....imagine a pro shot of this scene say for advertising purposes...the lights, the reflectors, the flash.....no my friend in the circumstances you have done really well and the image has grown on me beautifully!
best wishes Kev

Bonjour, mon ami Jerzy,

Pozdrawiam.

Very beautiful. That's what she is. It's a pity that the light isn't better my friend. You could open the exposure a bit more, but probably you didn't want to burn the whites in her skirt and on the window. Shadows are everywhere, but probably that's what you wanted to show... Nice mood though and good pov.

Jerzy,
To najlepsza twoja seria IMO,
pozdrawiam,

Nice portrait, Jerzy, with the attention going first to the flowers and then to this girl, because of the light. Funny, I also have made such a portrait once, with a spot of light on the flowers nearby. Interesting approach - it tells about the person by highlighting another object in the frame.
Cheers

Witaj Jurek,
Pozdrawiam,
J.

Hi Jerzy.
I like this image, the light falls in a beautiful way to show her dress and also brings the flowers in the first stage. SHe is natural enough while posing to you and you correctly describe the soul of the girl and her compatriots. It really is a nice shot, with all elements around.
take care, Aleks

pozdrawiam!

Hey Jerzy,
a flower with other flowers. She looks captivating in her dress, looking on beautifully at you. The lighting overall isnt bad, as Kev points out its a bit flat on her face but not too badly. The subject matter is good, its a good continuation of this series J.

Hi Jerzy,
There is superb light balance and exposure level here, with good shadow effects. Although Kev makes a valid point about the lack of light on the girl's face, my view is that the light on her dress more than compensates for this. Good clarity of detail throughout. Well done.
John
