Photographer's Note

Ponta Delgada is the largest and most populous city of the Azores.

During the stay I could observe the many magnificent buildings of tremendous architectural value.

The majority of these are presently used to accommodate the various political, administrative, religious and cultural offices of São Miguel and the Azores.

The City Gates, “Portas da Cidade”, constructed in the form of three arches during the 18th century, caught my special mention which is a real gate to a wonderful city full of monuments.

Beautiful view of the city. You chose a good POV to show the surrounding rural area. The colours are vibrant and beautiful. Well done

Olá Rui,
Vejo que hoje estamos os dois nos Açores :-)
Gosto sempre destas paisagens verdejantes. Vejo que a cidade de Ponta Delgada cresceu bastante nos últimos 20 anos. Além de não terem implodido alguns desses prédios demasiado altos, ainda construíram foi mais :-(

Apesar de me parecer sobre-exposta na zona da cidade, não deixa de ser uma foto bonita com boas cores no primeiro plano e nos azuis do céu e do mar. Nunca fui ao Açores mas é uma viagem que está nos meus planos.

Olá Rui,
Excelente vista sobre a cidade espraiando-se à beira desse mar tão azul. O enquadramento está estupendo, os campos verdes e a árvore em 1º plano tornam a foto ainda mais agradável. Só aquela coisa (pau?) no fundo, à esquerda da pedra branca está a mais, mas pouco podias fazer quanto a isso.

THe typical irresistable combination of green and blue with puffy clouds of the Açores, nice mix of rural scenery with urban, I did not go to this viewpoint, but anyway everytime I was near Ponta Delgada, it was raining.

The beautiful blue color of the ocean is most fabulous. I see a modern town bulit along the bay on both sides, just wonder why built to high floors - seem they have much of spare space for buildings...
Good view from hill's higher POV, the weather was great in mid year longest day.
