Photographer's Note
The Santa Joana Princesa tomb is in the Monastery of Jesus, women's convent founded in 1458 as a modest seclusion. The presence of the Sisters of Princess Joana, daughter of King Afonso V, from 1472, led to the monastery aggrandizement that in the next three centuries, has undergone successive renovations and constructions.
The church of Jesus, with rich gilded woodwork and tiles, the tomb of Princess, a masterpiece of baroque cloister (secs. XV / XVI) and the dining room, walls covered with tile and graceful Tribune read, are integrated monastic structures at the Museum. Important Portuguese baroque art collection (secs. XVII / XVIII). Sculpture, carving, vestments and jewelery
