Photographer's Note

One of the souvenirs you could bring from Portugal is the traditional embroidery, Portuguese lace. Looking at this picture, and the repeated ornamental decorations all over the castle, made me think of laces. In fact, we have in Polish language an expression “koronkowa robota” which literally translates as “lace work”. Lace work means carrying out something very intricately, precisely, artfully, precisely in every detail.
As I mentioned before, I would really like to photograph the Pena Palace from a distance, which would allow to present its amazing location on top of a hill and having all its parts together, but I didn’t have a chance for it. Here, a wider view than before but again taken from within a castle meaning to get a wide scene I had to accept some distortion.
