Photographer's Note

This one was shot on the same place of my last post from Portugal. I found that the reflections and the window itself was worth a post...

I am leaving for somewhere not far from this place for an extended weekend, so I wish you all a happy Easter. If you don't care for such a thing, I just hope you have a pleasant weekend.

I posted a WS showing directly part of the reflections. There is something curious about that WS: being so used to have much trouble putting skies nice, I was much surprised to find a dark blue 'polariser style' sky already on the image that came directly from the the camera memory.

Hi Jose,
I like this shot with the wonderful reflections, the window looks more like a mirror instead of just plain glass. I really like the frame you have chosen too. The texture of the walls comes through clearly also. Happy Easter to you too.

Olá José,
very nice idea and excellent realisation. Clear reflection and distorted as it should be. The white frame of the window creates the pleasant surrounding for this colourful enlighted content.

Ola José !
Belo pormenor. Gosto do reflexo no vidro da janela porque parece que estamos vendo uma construçao atravez esse mesmo vidro ! Tambem nao apareces na janela o que me faz pensar que devias de estar ou ligeiramente mais baixo, ou no eixo, escondido pela madeira central. So acho que o quadro branco sera demasiado grande e muito semelhante a propria janela, desviando assim talvez um pouco a atençao do observador (è apenas uma opiniao).

Olá José, acredito perfeitamente - também tenho umas assim sem o polarizador que ainda não comprei, mas está para breve...
As duas são muito boas, aliás as 3 (lembro-me da outra e depois escapou-me já não sei porquê - chamou-me a atenção porque não é longe do sítio para onde costumo ir e na terra de uma colega minha que costuma ir para lá).
Adoro a moldura desta, com o recorte irregular da pedra e o branco da parede que parece ser colocada à posteriori - ficou muito bonito a jogar com o branco da janela.
Faz-me lembrar as fotos da Teresa...se bem que aqui jogaste mais com os reflexos.
A textura da pedra também é muito agradável e a luz de final de tarde está perfeita, fazendo ressaltar as cores. Gosto bastante.

Hello Jose -

I like this image an awful lot. First of all is the window - I just like the old and simple architecture of the window and the surrounding building. Second - the reflection in the imperfect glass is something to really look at and study. I like the distortions, the colors, and just the way the reflected image recomposes itself in the glass. Exposure is spot on the money. Bravo, well done!

Hi JOse, this is an outstanding shot. The broken reflections are full of strong and warm colors and I can't see the photographer in it ;-) You achieved a very interesting multiple natural framing with the white part of the window the stone surrounding it and finally the white wall.
Escellent simplistic composition!

I love it Jose. There is something I find very appealing about reflections and I am always surprised at the stronger colours in evidence. It must be old glass in the window as it is creating wonderful distortions. I also like the rough frame you used; it suits the old wall round the window. Good work and Happy Easter.

Hello José,

Reflections in windows frequently make compelling photos, and yours with reflections in bright Portuguese sunlight is no exception. What I've always liked are reflections in large plate glass covering buildings. Although they are polished and smooth closeup, they cause remarkable distortions.
Somebody from TE posted the awning over a construction in a building in Paris. Take a look at a painted awning resembling a reflection: Paris 3

I would like to know more about your frame here .. the uneven .. "natrual feel" of it really works with this .. The flow and curves of the distorted reflection are amplified by the straight lines of the framing wall. Well composed .. wonderfully executed.

Parece-me que as tuas fotos me estão a acapar!!! Apanhei esta por acaso. Tens aqui uma bonita imagem, ou melhor duas imagens, com um enquadramento perfeito. Apesar de parecer sobre-exposta nalgumas partes, não deixa de ser muito boa. O reflexo está excelente e permite etr uma boa ideia do local. Muito bem.

I hope your Easter weekend went well. I have to say that I think this is an outstanding shot. As you say the reflections are what make it such a nice photo, but the window frame adds a very eloquent touch.

Gostei muito da sua foto, de todos estes detalhes já mencionados.
Há algo mais que chama a atenção, creio eu. É o fato de esta janela estar tão hermeticamente fechada a refletir (ou seja, a desviar para fora) uma imagem típica de Portugal no passado. Mudanças?
Talvez, um outro sentido de reflexão?
(Eu e minhas interpretações :-)
De qualquer forma, podemos interpretar uma obra de arte como bem entendermos, não é?
E, indubitavelmente, estamos diante de uma obra de arte.
