Sao Miguel-Haven in the Azores, a photo from Acores, Islands

Photographer's Note

The Azorean island of Sao Miguel (pronounced 'so' or 'sow' Miguel) is an island in the Atlantic of old-world charm, European feel, and spectacular scenery. Sao Miguel's capital city, Ponta Delgada, on the south side of the island, is European in character: with narrow cobblestone streets, old architecture.

Sao Miguel is in the eastern group of a group of nine beautiful islands called the Azores, of volcanic origin. This makes the landscape frequently hilly--a geologist would likely recognize immediately the sheer cliffs and rolling hills as having characteristic volcanic features.

Although at the rough latitude of Maryland, the Azores, part of Portugal, are warmer than the corresponding latitude in the United States. The warm waters of the gulf stream wind their way through the central Atlantic Ocean, warming the surrounding regions. The breeze felt pleasant, almost warm, blowing up through the streets from Ponta Delgada's bay.
Ponta Delgada's wide main street (the Avenida), is made of white and black volcanic stones, and closely hugs the harbour.
The subject in this post is the wonderful main church building with volcanic stones with a diffuse light ass seen from the harbour,a working harbour;
In fact the Azores have a history as a strategic location for sailors so you may see tankers and freighters from Europe, Russia--all around the world.

Olá Rui,
Está uma cor interessante, apesar de não ser a beleza verde habitual dos Açores.
É verdade, a brisa é quase morna às vezes nos Açores, principalmente quando se vai do inverno frio do continente e se chega às ilhas; nota-se um agradável contraste.

Olá Rui,
Uma vista muito bonita, bem enquadrada e com umas cores quentes muito interessantes, que lhe dão uma atmosfera especial, para o que contribuem também as grandes nuvens ao fundo. Parece-me que tem um bocado de céu a mais, principalmente faz com que o olhar se fixe a meio da imagem ou não se fixe em nada em especial.

You found a good POV to take this shot. It shows us the harbour, the city and the mountains beyond. I like the strong diagonal of the big bank of cloud in opposition to the mountain slopes. Well done

almost everything is perfect on this scenery.the appereance of water . especially the sky looks charming while a white building makes the photo better in terms of colors.
