Kilometre Zero Monument, a photo from Bucuresti, East

Photographer's Note

In the fg is the Kilometre Zero monument built in 1938 by Constantin Baraski. It is in the exact centre of Bucharest and has 8 points leading to various provinces around Romania, some of which are now in Moldova (Chişinău, Orhei, Tighina) & Bulgaria (Silistra and Dobrich) (Bazargic). Around the bg wall you can see the names of some of the towns around what was then Romania.

I wouldn't make a special trip just to see this monument alone but the bg church, St George New Church, dating from 1707 AD, is definitely worth a visit. In the exterior facade you can spot the wonderful tile mosaic I uploaded yesterday. There are also impressive frescoes in the elaborate colonnaded portal.

I did not go inside as I had an evening flight to Vienna, and wanted to see as many sites in the area as possible before returning to my hotel to pack.

Sounds a bit like Sydney's Macquarie Place from where Gov Macquarie had all roads fanning out from.
A good view of the square with the impressive chruch in the background.

Seems like the borders change like a hand from a deck of cards. The building in the background seems to be a perfect setting for the star. Nice capture with what was available.

A beautiful photo with a lot of interesting parts. The monument is well included in the foreground, in front of the church and its two twin towers. The large trees are very well included on both sides and I love the gentle sunlight too.

Hi Chris,interesting note about this curious monument builth in the exact center of Bucarest,is like the cross mosaic made in the gallery of Milano close to the Duomo that sign the center of my city. ottima composizione, la fontana, anche se asciutta, apre bene la vista all'architettura posteriore.
Gli alberi senza foglie non sono belli da vedere, ma fanno in modo da poter vedere anche ciò che di solito è nascosto.
