A view of my home city, Baia Mare, from a nearby hill-top. Baia Mare is the Maramures county capital, its name means Big Mine. Initially a miner colony, the town evolved and fluorished even after the mines got closed. The huge industrial tower stands 350m high and dominates the city, thus having become a land-mark, even though not a pretty one. However, inhabitants have a lot to thank that tower, as before it was finished, Baia Mare was a very polluted city - lead was being processed in the metallurgy plant...
